At this point, it seems pretty clear cut, if you are going into this movie thinking it will be fun, you're right; and if you are going this movie thinking it's going to suck, you're right.

I feel like this basically sums Star Wars up from The Phantom Menace to now. The movies aren't particularly good, but they're fun/epic, and you'll enjoy them if you enjoy Star Wars.

I'm always reminded of the scene near the end of Fanboys when they're in line to see TPM and one of the main character's bullying older brother - played by Roy from the Office - shows up after mocking him for loving Star Wars earlier in the movie.

The fan boy says, "Chaz, what the hell are you doing here, man?

And Chaz (Roy) says : "Ah, come on, bro. It's the Wars."

It will never be as good as the first time I saw it, but that was in 1977 when I was in preschool. When they're still making stories in the same universe almost 50 years later, I gotta just enjoy it.

What about people like me who want to see it, but have no current opinion on if it will be fun or suck? Honestly, I'm trying to figure out how to get season 2 and 3 out of the way for my son before I take him once school is out.

I want to go see this movie but the last Star Wars movie I saw in theaters was Rise of Skywalker so I'm having a really hard time being excited for it.

Ok the more I read and listen to stuff the more I'm getting convinced that this time is different and we're going to get some semblance of the sequel trilogy going away….dont know how they'll do it in terms of just totally ret-conning it (the least likely)….explaining it away in story…..or just tip toeing around it in future stories and never bringing it up or referencing it…

Don't expect they'll go as far as to actually come out and admit fault….

But let's look at the timeline….

1/15 - Dave Filoni takes over at lucasfilm
3/18 - Josh D'Amaro takes over as CEO
4/29 - Disneyland permanently adds Luke, Han, Leia, and Vader to Galaxys Edge
4/30 - Josh D'Amaro, Dana Walden, and Alan Bergman meet with Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan as well as other folks at Lucasfilm to discuss future of Star Wars
5/5 - Neilson reports the top viewed Star Wars programs (including all movies, tv shows, and cartoons) for Star Wars day from back in 2025. Showed zero interest on Disney plus for ST.
5/13 - Report comes out stating Ashoka season 2 has been delayed to early 2027 with no apparent reason why. I did do an AI search for this and it states, "The delay is largely due to extended production and post-production timelines for a larger-scale, higher-quality, and more complex story, alongside strategic shifts under new Lucasfilm leadership.". Now I have no idea if that's actually true just because AI said it doesn't make it factual at all for something like this, but there ya go….

In addition, other than the mangrove movie….the Star Wars racer game….Ashoka season 2….and the star fighter movie….there is NOTHING solid on the horizon….

Yes we still expect to get a Jedi 3 game and I'm guessing that Dawn of the Jedi movie is still getting attention….but no dates, time tables, road maps, etc has been brought up or even hinted at….

Me thinks big changes are a comin…..

And if they do follow through with what I'm guessing….heres my idea on how…..

They'll have to use the world between worlds and me saying that alone i know is not an original idea a lot of people thinking the same way I am are guessing that too….

But……with regards to how……

I'm going to guess that it's discovered that 'ole Palps ended up discovering the world between worlds and was using that to fix mistakes to how the resistance ended up winning, creating a time loop where he could constantly go back and fix errors….and in doing this Ashoka discovers the eventual downfall of the resistance through the world between worlds as well and sees the first order/emperor ruling over the galaxy…..and in turn does "something" (I'm not a writer) to stop Palps and that future where the good guys lose, but also ends up sacrificing herself to do so which ultimately un-does the whole timeline that leads to the first order rising to begin with…..

I don't know….odds are very strongly I'm still way off….but considering the changing of the guard and what we've seen, it's a lot more fun to speculate over this right now….

I'm not saying this is at all legit, it would simply be funny if it was. Personally, I would be shocked if a new Star Wars movie is filming this month, without an official announcement or news of it leaking first.

Pour one out for Star Wars Insider magazine, hanging it up after 237 issues. Started in 1978 as a newsletter for the "Official Star Wars Fan Club", later known as Bantha Tracks. From 87-94 it was as the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine ,and from '94-26, Star Wars Insider. The first issue feature the TIE Fighter video game.

I think I had a subscription during the prequels when every scoop and spoiler wasn't automatically online.

I made the mistake of watching one video about Star Wars insider ending and here comes all these videos about Disney ending woke Star Wars. It's not going to happen! The mandolorian movie could make a hundred bucks at the box office and they are not going to change from course. If it's one thing these fools believe is they are right and everyone who thinks different is wrong. Minorities, gays, and women are never going to like Star Wars. People don't change. Kennedy and Iger are gone. So f'ing what. Meet the new boss same as the old boss. If they want to die on the sword let them. F Disney, f Lucas, f Pedro, f the new cast and tv garbage. Not one dime from me. I'll watch the original trilogy and read some of the older novels. No twitter rave review by some fat teenage shill living in his mother's attic is going to change my mind. Star Wars and Star Trek both dead and they are not coming back! May the force be with some of y'all

Thanks for posting this. I could not agree more. I have said for so many years that the Empire Strikes Back is not only the best SW movie but one of the best movies ever made. It's in my top three and if I am being honest, #1. It is literally a perfect movie. And for all the reasons the narrator could articulate that I can not.

I was 6.5 years old when I saw it in the theater with my family in the summer of 1980. It took years for me to stop obsessing over it. And again, for all the reasons the narrator stated. Cinematic masterpiece. I can hear the sounds of that movie in my head, if I try, and sometimes if I don't, to this day. And the music was just amazing. The love story. The cinematography. Perfection.

What a great time to be a kid in America.

I came across this yesterday on my Youtube feed. Good video that lays out a good case for why Empire is so good.

I am very likely the first person in my home town who saw it in a theater, as the movie did not open there until June - and only opened on two screens in the entire city of Houston in late May, 1980. I was able to convince my dad that we needed to be in the area of the old Westchase Theater on a Saturday when we were with our dad (divorced parents) "just to see how long the line was". That initial line was not terribly long, although there was a second line that one could not see from Westheimer Rd. Still, we saw it that day.

I had already read the novelization, so the big reveal was not a surprise to me although I don't recall anticipating it before it came. I thought the movie was great. I don't think I liked it as much as Star Wars when we left the theater, but it was already one of my top favorite movies (not a real long list in those days). When it came to my home town, I believe I went nearly every afternoon for something like two weeks.

For me, it took Return of the Jedi to see why Empire was the best Star Wars movie. Jedi brought everything to a close, but it was that middle episode that was clearly the most ambitious of the stories. It was the best written of the three - by far, I might add - and it did not fall into the sequel trap of simply remaking the original movie. It told a different story, and the heroes did not win. Top it off with an ambiguous ending for one of the heroes.

I decided that The Empire Strikes Back was my all-time favorite movie sometime around 1984 when 20th Century Fox finally released the movie to home video. It has held that title for me since then.

Confirms my biggest concern about this movie, that it just feels like a filler episode of Mando.

Sigh. This sucks. I will never understand why this was what they decided on for SW's big return to the big screen.
