I knew the reactions would come out that a bunch of hateful bigots got the show cancelled. The Acolyte got cancelled because it sucked.

I don't care who is gay or not gay in a show. I don't care if it's "weird." If it's good, people will watch it.

I know this is TexAgs and there is joy that this show was canceled. But I find it a bit sad that they tried something new and gave up on it. I'm not sure that bodes well for the future of Star wars.
I wouldn't say I'm happy it's canceled, but I was disappointed, overall, with how poorly it was executed. So, I guess in a way, it saves me from being hurt again

This.

Modern Family had gay characters. It ran for 200+ episodes because it was funny.

And because Sofia Vergara.

Andor was new and they nailed it.

And despite the initial backlash to the creator, there really wasn't much in the show itself to object to as far as it being too *insert word of choice here*.

It just wasn't good.

There was an interview she was in where the interviewer said something like, "This is the gayest Star Wars ever," and you could tell he was really excited about it.

Honestly, her body language gave me the vibe that she didn't want The Acolyte labeled in that way. She just wanted it to be good. Unfortunately, I didn't work out.

The problem was the focus on the gay rather than just telling a great story. There have been plenty of great movies featuring gay characters over the years. Having gay characters is not a problem; the show/movie being only about proclaiming how excited some are over these gay characters means full attention is not given to the actual story, and therefore it sucks.

I'm disappointed that it HAD to be cancelled. And it HAD to be cancelled, no doubt. The show sucked in delivery. Give the same storyline and characters (not actors) to a competent director and show runner and it would have done really well, most likely.

The flipside of "not boding well" is that it DOES bode well that a poorly created show is not just being automatically given a season 2.

The problem I see is that Headland has shown to be a competent director and showrunner. Several competent directors and showrunners have failed with star wars recently. There is one common denominator.

Hopefully they learn the right lessons from Acolytes failures, but somehow I doubt it

So is the Acolyte no longer canon?

Maybe this is setting the stage for the sequels to be erased as well. Which means it had some value.

And the sad thing is that a handful of discerning, real OG SW fans in the pitchroom could have saved Disney $180 million. Fire Kathleen.
I have seen every feature film in the theatre since 1977. I have watched every series on D+ since Mando S1 aired.

After seeing the first trailer/teaser for The Acolyte, I literally lol'd and cancelled my subscription. Yes, it looked that bad. A lot of people should feel the heat. I have a lot more sympathy for the gal that directed it than the people above her that approved it.

Orange hair summarizes that Lucasfilm is allowing the bigots to win. Guess I'm a bigot.

I mean… God forbid a company side with the majority of its customers to sell them a product they want in order for both sides to be satisfied (win/win)… we (majority assumed) get programming we want to watch; they get our money and eyeballs (advertising money).

I found the Acolyte very meh, but I did like Darth Bortles and was excited to see the Plagueis cameo. I hope someone does something with more with the Sith.

I don't know if anyone else is planning on picking up the Star Wars Outlaws game coming out. I started playing tonight with the old New Zealand Xbox trick.

Pretty fun intro to the game. Very simple combat. Graphics look really good

have been debating on it…from some of the play through clips I've seen the combat looked stale and seemed like it could get repetitive really quick.

Also….the extra cost DLC section that includes Jabba the Hutt (which was heavily advertised making it seem like part of the core gameplay) making the full game price $129 has soured me a bit…..

Edit: Looks like they may have changed it and lowered the jabba stuff from the $129 tier to the $109 tier….still sucks considering the standard game is $69….

Again…don't have an issue with extra dlc being extra….the issue is they advertised it like it was part of the game….

Thats been my recent frustration with some recent games. Started a few years ago with these damn season pass deals (mainly Ubisoft games).

I just try to remind myself that the extra $40 is for the 2 DLC expansions coming out later.

As much as I would like to play this game, I've learned my lesson with Ubisoft.

This thing will be 30% off in November, 50% off next year for the ultimate edition.

Yeah, I don't buy games at full price and haven't for years. I wait until they go on sale and they will. I'm also not obsessed with playing a game at release outside of very rare circumstances. The only recent example of this would have been BG3 and I still haven't bought it but that's primarily because my rig is too old otherwise I would have purchased that new.

Picked up God of War for $4 two weeks ago.

The DLC gives you an additional mission from Jabba. Without buying it you still interact with him and do at least one mission for him.

No idea who ThwipT is, but Empire City is legit, so the fact that they're commenting could lend some credibility. Regardless, late 2025 would make way more sense than releasing two Star Wars movies within seven months of each other in 2026, especially considering they've already been filming for weeks now...

Something that I would love, but I also hope does not happen:

In season two of Andor, we find out that Kino Loy learned how to swim.
