With two other December Star Wars dates still empty/left to fill, considering today's news, as of now, this is what I'm guessing...

May 22, 2026

Star Wars: New Jedi Order
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10300398/
December 18, 2026

Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi

December 17, 2027

James Mangold is currently filming the Timothee Chalamet-starring Bob Dylan movie A Complete Unknown, which should release at some point next year. So it certainly makes sense for Willimon to essentially get a head start in "co-writing" Dawn of the Jedi now. Then, next year, Mangold comes in and does his pass, and they film in 2026 for a 2027 release.

Granted, there will no doubt be additional announcements and surprises (Donald Glover's Lando movie, Taika Waititi's potential movie, other Disney+ series, etc), but the above is everything we know will for sure release as of as now, and I'm just trying to project roughly when it's all coming out.

Given the news about The Acolyte telling us how the Jedi got to their state in Phantom Menace, I will take a guess that Dawn of the Jedi will end with the prophesy of the Chosen One

New Star Tours debuted today with Mando/Grogu/Ahsoka/Cassian, even some cameos from Chopper and Huyang.

Either Pedro Pascal has been chainsmoking for a year or they couldn't get him, cuz Din don't sound like Din.

It warms my little Clone Wars heart to heard Ahoska tell R2 it's good to see him agian.

One of the challenges TDOTJ will face, given its setting in the timeline, is adequately creating a universe that is 25000 years in the past. Just as life evolves, so too does technology. That evolution can happen quickly, especially if we look at our own history - in 1903, we see the first recorded controlled flight, 66 years later "It's one small step for man, one giant leap for Mankind" from the surface of the moon. 25000 years is a considerably longer time frame. Obviously there will be things that are far more advanced for the characters inhabiting that timeline than in a comparable time difference in our reality - lightsabres, lasers, starships? but there should not be anything looking like Star Destroyers or X-Wings.

The Dawn of the Jedi suggests the beginning of "their religion" to quote Governor Tarkin, but what is everything else going to look like?

This is the one Star Wars movie that I am looking forward to the most (provided that Rogue Squadron movie does not get made).

Had the same thought.

It'd be cool if they had vibroswords; or Just swords - no lightsabers. Slug-throwers instead of laser pistols or blasters, etc.

"When I first started talking to Kathy [Kennedy] about doing one of these pictures, what occurred to me was thinking about what kind of genre of movie within Star Wars I wanted to do," Mangold said at the time. "And I thought about a biblical epic, like a Ten Commandments, about the dawning of the Force.

"Biblical" and "Ten Commandments" tells me it's very much going to have that ancient, low-tech feel. That said, yeah, there's no way we don't get lightsabers - in fact, I'm betting we see the first-ever rudimentary lightsaber - so maybe it's something akin to the Fremen in Dune? Where they have cool, minimalist tech, but it's more about living off the land, being one with the Force, etc?

I hope this guy has a really good idea because if the first jedi gets a robe and a lightsaber and the force on a 2 hour movie? Blah.

Now what would be an amazing ending Is to have the first jedi doing meditation or practicing with the sword or whatever and then have a closing montage of "a thousand generations of jedi knights" doing likewise. Give the production design team free license to make any species new or old of jedi, mix in a few of our favorites with new footage - either cgi or de aged or back in the studio - and make it the most rewatched YouTube clip of all time.

this could be awesome! The world building alone could make or break this movie so I hope they get that right.

There's things called "proto-sabers" that actually have been made in real life (go watch Hacksmith on YouTube) and would be really cool to see something like that…

After 18 months, I have done the impossible.

My wife watched (and loved) the first three episodes of Andor tonight. There are few things hotter in this world than a woman talking about Kenari and Ferrix.

Daisy Ridley as Rey has been great. I haven't like many things they've done with her character as a Mary Sue, but she has done a great job with what she's had.

agreed. it's not her fault there was no cohesive story planned out over the 3 films with lucas film making it up as they went along. she was as good as she could have been given the character they provided for her.

feel like it's sorta the same deal with hayden christiansen from the prequels...when the dialogue is so bad it makes samuel l jackson seem stale then it's hard to put all the blame on one actor....

i did read though that the mandalorian & grogu movie has been delayed until 2026....and with that now being the case and a low chance that disney would want to release 2 star wars movies in the same year, that means at the earliest the rey star wars movie now won't be coming out until 2027....

Check my posts above, from last Friday (the 5th). As of now, at least, Disney/Lucasfilm still has two Star Wars movies scheduled for release in 2026...

Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt30825738/
May 22, 2026

Untitled Star Wars Movie
December 18, 2026

The Rey movie - tentatively titled New Jedi Order - hasn't been officially announced yet as taking that December 18 date, but all signs point to it being releasing then.

Granted, dates could still of course shift, but Disney/Lucasfilm announced both 2026 dates in a big press release in June of last year and hasn't budged since on either one.

honestly with what they've done with everything and what's coming up is anything looking promising?

here's a list of everything that's been confirmed OR rumored (including even the lowest of likely things)

Tales of the Empire - ok im excited for this!

The Acolyte - meh...I'll watch it but not expecting much

The Skeleton Crew - don't even understand what this really is going to be

Andor Season 2 - hell yeah more shows like this please!!!

Ashoka Season 2 - may or may not watch low expectations

Mandalorian and Grogu Movie - Would have been hyped after Season 2....but coming out after the letdown of Season 3 and not coming out for another 2 years....I'm guessing this doesn't do well

Taika Waititi Movie - psssh...will this ever happen?

Dawn of the Jedi - this actually sounds intriguing and could be a breath of fresh air like Andor was

Dave Filoni Mandoverse film - sounded interesting but after Mando S3 and Ashoka...not sure...if the Mando and Grogu film bombs then this probably doesn't get made but who knows...

Rey movie - meh....

Rogue Squadron - would be awesome but not bolding it cause it's probably the least likely to get made from everything on this list....

Lando Movie - second least likely to get made...

Rian Johnson Movie/Trilogy - oh get bent....

that's 13 projects total....13 projects and only a few of them sound or will be promising with let's be honest we know there's some of these that'll never see the light of day but they love to announce projects then never follow through....

Kinda like all the new years resolutions....."this time i mean it i'm gonna get in shape...lose 30 pounds...and make that awesome star wars movie i promised!"

*3 weeks later*

"ah to hell with it who cares anyway..."

do you think they make the same decision that was done for TLJ and the Solo movie?

It's a touch further apart than those 2 films but the only time we've ever had 2 star wars movies release within 12 months of each other the second one bombed (from a certain point of view...as i doubt it lost money)....

As of June 2023, for whatever reason, they already, very purposefully, made the same decision...

https://www.thewrap.com/new-star-wars-movies-release-dates-2026/

Though, I definitely don't understand why they're doing it, considering the cursed history. That said, The Mandalorian & Grogu does at least feel more like a glorified Disney+ release, and not a "real" Star Wars movie, so maybe it doesn't "count" as much in their eyes? Otherwise, I have no clue what their thinking is...

My problem with Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu is that......it is called The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Seriously? I realize movie names can sometimes try to get too clever but that just seems like a total give up.

Not only is "The Mandalorian" probably the most popular Star Wars subtitle since the prequels, but Grogu might even edge our Rey for the most popular Star Wars character of the Disney era.

In other words, it's great brand recognition, and a simple, straightforward title that gets the most people in the theater.

It's not lazy, it's strategic.

Wait, you think Rey is the most popular Disney era Star Wars character?

Cause I think it's gotta be Kylo Ren, and by a significant margin.
