I love waiting 3 years between tv shows, ffs.

Ahsoka season 1 - 2023
Ahsoka season 2 - 2026?

And then the damn movie in 2028? There is so much time for Disney to f-ck things up so none of it happens.
it is a joke.

by the time anything of any importance happens Grogu would be a Jedi Master.

So like 200 years?

On a related note, don't most of the streaming platforms wait multiple years between shows, now? Or is it just for stuff that is really successful?

Stranger Things
House of the Dragon
Did Game of Thrones come out yearly at first?
Ted Lasso
I'm sure there are others I can't remember

Typically, only the massive, effects-heavy, eight-to-ten episode, one-hour dramas go two years between seasons now. But even that's a relatively new thing as, yeah, the first seven seasons of Game of Thrones came out in seven consecutive years. While Stranger Things is one of those shows where only two writers write the whole damn thing, hence the time it takes between those seasons. Westworld had a traditional writer's room, but took two years between seasons, only because of how intricate and complex the story-telling was, how long it took to film, do effects, etc. Then Ted Lasso's first two seasons released in back-to-back years, and the third season was two years later only because of internal drama.

Otherwise, most shows still try and stick to a season-a-year, or one season every 18 months or so.

Oh, and the influx of movie stars taking on TV roles is another cause for the long gaps between certain seasons as well, due to their demanding schedules.

Also, to be clear, there's a chance season two of Ahsoka could come out late 2025. It just depends on how far along Filoni is in the writing process. The SW Disney+ seasons, on average, have taken roughly a year from when filming begins to when the first episode airs. So if he can have production up and running by November or so, it could definitely be done. I get the impression he's only just started writing, but who knows. If anything, it would certainly make more sense for Disney to have two shows next year instead of only one (Andor).

Which ones are Gen Z, like what is their age range?

Age range:

Gen Z ~12 to 27
Millennials ~ 28-43
Gen X ~44-59
Boomers Greater than 59

Gen Z is starting to enter prime buying power.
just in case anyone reading this falls into the range of 38-43, we are actually known as Geriatric Millennials…..

I get what you're saying, but haven't we all also wanted a cohesive, thought through narrative like this, which is exactly what they're trying to do? The Ahsoka story is all Filoni, and to a great extent Mando is the same to Favreau.

We've talked about rushing things out as a detriment, so I'm okay being patient for a good result.

For the movies, yes, that's what we've been wanting. But two dudes separately writing 40+ episodes of television ain't it. Nor would I call any of the series so far, save for Andor, "cohesive" and "thought through." The Mandalorian, especially, has been the very definition of "winging it," with how convoluted that narrative has been, how it sloppily it tied into The Book of Boba Fett, etc. And yes, Ahsoka so far definitely feels like it was more measured and planned out, but man could it have used more experienced writers taking another pass or five on those episodes.

40-43 is NOT millennials... we're a transitional subgroup called Xennials ... I am 99% more aligned with GenX than those freak millennials
Neither is 28-31.

It should really be people born in 80-92. Anyone in that range grew up in a world without cell phones, and where the internet wasn't ubiquitous. Anyone younger than 31 would barely remember the world before the internet.

For me, the differentiator should be if you were born after 1980 and grew up playing video games you had to beat in one sitting cause you couldn't save (NES, Sega Genesis), and would go play outside when you got bored.

That year seems to be the split for most ranges I see. You're either a very young Gen X or an Elder statesman of millennials. Up to you I suppose.

I like that way of looking at it. Makes me feel like a character in a movie given a choice to make. Like Frodo with the ring. Which would technically make you Gandalf.

I'm 37, and I definitely relate MORE to Gen X than to Millennials.

I think part of is was I was the youngest in my family, including cousins. The other part is there is a segment of us Millenials who's parents were LATE adopters, so we still lived most of our childhood analog.

Example: almost all my friends in high school had text messaging and those Nokia phones, but I didn't have text messaging on my phone until college. So even my wife, who is just 2 years younger than me, thinks I text like an old person. I just never got into it.

It's weird being just a bit further into Gen X as well, you have people who seem pretty young and then people who are just OLD (either in looks, mindset, or both).

Random side note, I worked in fintech marketing for a while with a company that provided services to small banks and credit unions. 90% of the people we worked with thought Millennials were just graduating college.

It could also be that I'm biased due to my own experience growing up. (I am 35.)

I grew up hanging out with my older cousins (the older ones now in their early 40's) , and my brother just turned 40. I also watched a ton of 80's movies, and we didn't have a computer in the house until around 1998.

I feel like I have almost nothing in common with people in their late 20's, as compared to people in their early 40's.

To me, the transition group should be for years 93-96. People of that age are a lot more Gen Z than the rest of us millennials. They're the odd ones out more so than 40-43, imho.

How else are you intended to text? It takes almost no more time to type a full sentence.

If you had to use a modem and played MUDs (I think LotJ is still around actually)...

I was 5 when we got a family computer (Tandy 1000). Played all DOS based games until me and MouthBQ begged for an x86. Once we had that, we quickly added a video card and a modem (probably around 1990 / 1991). I believe it had Win 3.1.

From that we could play X-Wing and a few others. We spent most our time outdoors but Sunday evenings were gaming afternoons.

My daughter makes fun of me for texting paragraphs

Where she will be
More likely
To send
Multiple texts
With fewer words
So my phones makes
Me believe
That I have received
19 important texts
Instead of a couple
Of sentences

Right there with you. I have to actively try not to start sentences with capital letters, not use periods or commas, and generally not type how I've typed basically since the '90s. It's more effort to do it their way.

I love generational discussions because everyone assumes their own experience is all at once unique but also demonstrative of a whole population of people.

TBF, If you were born in 1986, you're closer in age to Gen X than you are to about half of millennials.
