I agree, but my approach was just sticking with the canon and explaining it in a more consistent way.
Alternately, they could make 9 more movies like above, but every one involves a new Death Star.
Ok, I got ya. Whew

I think people have begun to overstate how 'bad' any of the prequel trilogy or sequel trilogy is. They are all at least watchable. It's really easy to remember the parts that you genuniely dislike (the casino plot, riding horse-animals on the exterior of a destroyer, the prank call, etc). But there is still a LOT that is genuinely awesome about all of those movies. The Porkchop Express said:
Without the success of the sequel trilogy, you never get Rogue One, Mando, or Andor.
Disagree. Not only was everything really bad, it was deliberatley intended to be bad and to **** all over the original movies.PatAg said:I think people have begun to overstate how 'bad' any of the prequel trilogy or sequel trilogy is. I wish they were better, of course, but I still enjoy them.
Regarding any concept of a reboot...that seems like a true waste of resources. Just tell NEW stories in the universe.
Except Disney, I guess?AliasMan02 said:
EVERYONE would prefer an Old Republic saga next. Everyone.
Accurate for many but my personal test for this is that I will watch at least parts of the PT when it's on or even voluntarily if I'm bored. Will stop down for the OT or R1 even after hundred(s)? of viewings.PatAg said:I think people have begun to overstate how 'bad' any of the prequel trilogy or sequel trilogy is. If the ST is on, it's not even a consideration for having it on in the background. I tried to rewatch TLJ once because I was trying to be objective with myself that I was being too harsh and had gone too far down the hate just to hate hole. I was wrong. I hated it even moreso after trying to be objective.
Therefore, they no longer exist. I could consider TFA existing but then the last two ruin it all.
If I catch Phantom Menace while bored, I'll still watch the pod racing + Darth Maul fight every timeABATTBQ11 said:
I can rewatch the prequels. My daughter really likes phantom menace. I have 0 interest in the sequels. They almost seem more like bad fanfic than mainstream movies.
Surely it's been said before, but it's funny how the two trilogies are almost exact opposites:DubFalls said:
The prequels suffered from bad dialogue, acting, and focus on bureaucracy. The general ideas for the plot weren't terrible though.

I think it's worse that a weak story though. It is a story that is written and directed by people who don't really care about Star Wars.

Bad acting, dialogue, effects, but good overall story
vs
Good acting, dialogue, effects with a weak story.

Have you ever heard JJ Abrams talk about his lifelong love affair with Star Wars? Check him out on Smartless some time or on the directors commentary of TFA. Not liking the movies are OK, but it's really difficult to think he doesn't care about the IP.
Caring or loving about =/= understanding.DubFalls said:The Porkchop Express said:DubFalls said:

He managed to screw up Star Trek in a similar way

Well that's why I don't look at movies too closely I guess. And I loved the Khan movie too. Although the third one was a stinker.AliasMan02 said:
I think the point is you loved the movie, but it kinda falls apart if you look too closely at it, or if you have to follow it up narratively.
