Music is probably my favorite part of star wars but one of my main drives to do a bracket is that im not confident i know who is going to win. For music. I feel like the yoda music, imperial march, duel of the fates, and force theme are an unstoppable final four which takes a lot of the fun out of it. But i am often wrong, so please take the reins on it if you like! I think i should be able to roll out the worst dialogue one late tonight.

You'd probably do a better job than me, anyways, especially on the prequel music. When i was considering it, I thought about one region for the prequels, two for the OT and one for the sequels/rogue one/solo, but you do it the way you want. I definitely encourage other people besides me doing some of these. They are lots of fun to run but lots of work too.

After careful consideration, I've whittled down 32 tracks for the Best Star Wars Tracks Tournament.

(Whew - that was harder than I thought!)

Right off the bat, I want to point out two movies that were shut out completely - Solo, and Rise of Skywalker. If it upsets some of you, I'm sorry to say that there just weren't very memorable original tracks in those movies. (REALLY disappointed in the TROS soundtrack, personally.)

I tried to be as objective as possible, rather than just picking favorites. AOTC also only got 1 track, whereas ANH got 6, because the score for that movie is basically iconic from beginning to end. So that's just the way the cookie crumbled.

Tracks per film:

Prequel Trilogy - 9
TPM - 4
AOTC - 1
ROTS - 4

Original Trilogy - 15
ANH - 6
ESB - 4
ROTJ - 5

Sequel Trilogy - 6
TFA - 4
TLJ - 2

Spinoffs - 2
Rogue One - 2

The tracks were seeded 1-8, then randomized into four brackets. (And in true movie nerd fashion, the brackets are named after my favorite film composers.)

Listening through some of the matchups for refreshers. IMO, Your Father Would Be Proud from Rogue One is one that may be too easily looked over. It's going against Battle of the Heroes from ROTS, a good track in its own right, but that Rogue One track and the usage of it were so compelling and moving.

I was showing the four groups I had split them into, with the 1-8 seedings.

The bracket generator then assigned them into 1-32 and created the matchups.

Fixed it for clarity.

I mean, it's more of an impossible task than anything we've done previous, unless you just included every track. My personal favorite track is Tales of a Jedi Knight / Learn About the Force, so I hate not seeing that one in there.

I don't love that, but the ending music in the SE is far better than Yub Nub.

But even the Jabba's Palace scene is tolerable for me. Probably cause it's the only version I've ever watched.

You've never seen the original version of ROTJ?

I agree that the SE ending is better; Yub Nub is awful. As for Jabba's palace scene in the SE, I loathed that addition.

I'm pretty sure the only way to watch it is the old THX tapes on VHS. Brian was only a youngling when Ep 1 came out, well after the special edition changes.
