Controversial opinion time: but I've always hated that Yoda quote. Just feels like fake, cheap philosophy to me. I've hated when people would quote it to me while I was trying to do something but struggling. I'm actively trying over here, cut me some slack, I'm not to the point of doing anything yet.
It's like Yoda never heard Obi-Wan's opinion on absolutes

Ideas for next voting categories:

1. Coolest non-human species / character
2. Best suit of armor
3. Star Wars planet you would want to live on
4. What Star fighter your would fly? (I.e. small 1-2 man military spacecraft: not the corellian freighters, smuggle yachts, etc) - e.g. XW, AW, YW, BW, TIEs, z-95, etc

Which reminds me...

That might be one of my favorite Obi-Wan lines from the prequels. Right up there with "Sith lords are our specialty."

So, of course neither made the bracket. (Now I fully expect both to show up in the bad quotes bracket."

This quote bothered me. They haven't seen a Sith in the open in thousand(s) of years - how could that be their speciality?

My guess is that after the last Sith was seen, the Jedi didn't just stop learning/teaching about fighting and defeating them.

However, it really bothers me that right after he said it Obi-Wan got b-tch slapped by Dooku for a 2nd time. Then, those lame asses who Palps curbstomped...

I leaned on Yoda's quote to get through a couple of tougher classes while I was a student at A&M. Not surprised his quote took out Darth Vader's most famous quote.

Did you also see ESB at the Lake Theater??
Well this feels a little ... stalker-ish.

Seriously, I probably saw Empire half a dozen times at the Lake Theater in the summer of '80, but I first saw the movie in Houston at the Westchase theater that was at Westheimer and Gessner.

And apparently Obi-Wan didn't see the irony of him speaking in an absolute.

MASTER JEDI MASTERS QUOTE BRACKET

It's early, but I'm not making the same mistake that Rocky Balboa did during the exhibition between Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago 35 years ago. I'm throwing in the damn towel for Han & Leia.

After actually leading for the first 4 hours, Benny's Mom & Dad ended up getting thrashed like so many wayward clonetroopers as Yoda's "Do or Do Not, there is no try" easily won the final of Never Quote me the Odds by a whopping 69%-31% margin, further upsetting the guy who hates that quote.

Yoda celebrated at Club Obi Wan (who gets that reference?) after his victory.

Currently working on the Worst Quote Bracket, Best Office Cold Open Bracket, and Best 1980s Movie Bracket. And sometimes doing my job.

How did it win by that many votes? Don't get me wrong, I love both quotes, but that seems weird.

Did someone just vote a bunch of times for it?

The 80s movies will have to be flexed out to a 128-entry field.

My initial list has

Scifi/Fantasy: 34 entries
Action: 30 entries
Comedy; 64 entries
Drama/Horror: 39 entries

Holy spit.

Probably going to flex worst star wars quotes out to 64 as well. I'm having too much fun with that one.

Why that would be a swinging little (actually not little at all) big band club owned by the infamous Shanghai crime boss, Lao Che. A disaster of a night there old chap. Indy lost the diamond. Willie got a couple of holes in her dress (you know how hard it was to get that kind of fabric in from NY or Paris in 1935?). But Director Spielberg's wife's knockers held the antidote much to Indy's gain (hey Doctor Jones, no time fo luv).

Indy hops in a Ford Trimotor after the kerfuffle at the club. Pretty cool plane. I saw the one used in the film at a museum in Florida years ago. I've seen a couple more at different places and I always think of Indy. "So long, Lao Che!"
