Getting into the new novel, Resistance Reborn, which is sometimes billed as the Avengers of the new expanded canon because it brings together so many characters. So far, that's definitely the case. It's an unapologetic fanservice piece that so far in my reading has really dipped into the Aftermath books, Inferno Squad/Battlefront 2, the comics, and Bloodline. It has even referenced a Leia junior novel.

I don't know how it will turn out, but I'm growing convinced that some of these characters will cameo in Episode 9. Nothing to distract from the movie, but just Easter eggs for those who have enjoyed reading about/watching/playing the likes of Norra Wexley, Black Squadron, Rebels, and Inferno Squad.

It really is looking more and more like Johnson's trilogy isn't happening. There's absolutely no reason he couldn't have the first installment ready by December 2022. The fact that the next (2022) project/director has apparently already been chosen, and will apparently be announced in January, is very telling...

Favreau has no next movie lined that I'm aware of. That, and he "only" wrote and produced The Mandalorian, didn't direct. The same goes for season two, which is filming now. I wonder if he's the director of the 2022 movie who will presumably be announced in January?

What's crazy is that if Favreau is given more reigns going forward, he will have been responsible for ushering in both the MCU, and a new era in Star Wars.

That's pretty incredible.
