I completely agree with Spilner on ROTJ. It's a solid movie end to end. I just don't care for the Ewoks. But all three acts flow together, agreed the 2nd act is a little week but second acts typically are, but it all flows so well.
Minus the Ewoks, it is literally a perfect part 3 of a trilogy. Scores are settled. Story arcs are closed. Characters we care about are given their due. Great movie.

Have to say I don't belong anywhere near #1. I have read 1 SW novel, played a handful of SW video games, and have not seen Rebels or finished CW.
Muck probably belongs at #1 from what I have seen.

Lucas = no SW movies since 2005, those sucked and likely we would have never seen any more.
Disney = 3 movies and counting all of which are better than 1-3 prequels and 8 or 9 more upcoming.

The new disney trilogy represents a lost opportunity more than anything.
It's rare to have a trilogy green lighted from the start. They had a chance to create a long story arc connected through the 3 movies. So many interesting possibilities there.
What we got was a largely inconsistent plot mixed with pointless excursions and forced comedy. The characters are still paper thin after two movies and I have no attachment to them.
Having said that, they are better than the prequels and I would rather have them than not.

I feel the same way but I actually do care about Rey and Kylo.
