Not a panel I'd be interested in attending at all. But I do love people who bag on liberals for "safe spaces" and P.C. (often warranted), but then turn right around and get outraged by something harmless that upsets their precious sensibilities.

Because it's nothing but a PR stunt. You want to support the community, create some characters in canon that are whatever the acronym is. It does way more to show equality and inclusivity to include them in pop culture than to talk about it.

Example: Beauty and the Beast.

What they did was say "Check out this guy's big gay moment coming up"
What happened: A wet fart. He ended up getting spun into some guys arms and looked confused.

Create characters, include them in the canon. Do it without some big "LOOK AT ME LOOK HOW INCLUSIVE WE ARE BEING" panel.

I don't disagree with you at all regarding the primarily lip-service nature of this panel. I'm with you.

However, I don't think the majority of people that will be outraged by the LGBTQ panel are upset because it doesn't genuinely support the community. It's because they see the existence of anything LGBTQ-related as a liberal/gay takeover.
