Watched ANH today in preparation. No matter how many times I see it, I will never not get chills during Luke's death star trench run.

Well, having grown up on the VHS then seen the SE's in theater, then lived through the PT.... This might be the Star Wars movie that I've been waiting for to be made during my life time.

Because you know.... Prequels.

Gen Xers were born in the 60's and 70's. ThIs point makes no ****ing sense.

a. flying saucers tied to strings
or
b. cerebral stuff no kid could understand like 2001
or
c. still watching Star Trek reruns
or

SW was a godsend.



I actually had a weird Star Wars experience - I think - I didn't see it until July of 1977 and had not heard about it.

My parents had to drag me to it kicking and screaming because I hated sci-fi movies so bad.

I was living in Seoul South Korea until July of 1977. And in those days movies were not released internationally of course, not like now. And on the military bases we usually got movies 6-9 months after they were released in the US. So we had not yet heard about this movie Star Wars when we shipped back stateside.

We landed in LA and drove to my grandparents house in Las Vegas (Henderson actually). After a day or so acclimating to the time change my parents wanted to take me and my sister to see this movie Star Wars. I didn't have any friends there of course, had not talked to anyone about it and had never heard of it. It sounded stupid to me. I threw an 11 year old fit and very stubbornly went along saying how dumb it was and how much I hated sci fi movies.

LOL. Well I could not have been more wrong and I was just blown away of course. I came out of the theater just marvelling and begging to go see it again. I did see it several more times that summer once we settled in at our next base (Ft. Leavenworth Kansas).
