Honestly though I think 4 5 1 2 3 6 is the best. (In theory, as I haven't actually tried it yet.)

Your introduction to the saga are the first two films that were made. You're introduced to Luke, Leia, and Han, you learn who Luke's father is, and finish on a cliffhanger. You go back and learn about Vader as an "extended flashback", and finally see the Jedi Order and the Old Republic you've heard so much about. The flashback ends on the darkest possible note, then you flash forward back to the final battle and climax of the saga.

My exact line of thought, although I'll have to give rebornAg's lineup a try as well

Ultimately, 4, 5, 6 - and just 4, 5, 6 - are of course the only way to properly go about such an endeavor. Just saying, if for some insane reason you HAVE to watch the prequels, squeeze them in between 5 and 6.

Are we gonna beat that dead horse again? The whole skipping the prequels thing is so tired at this point.

Theres also thought to eliminate 1 entirely and you don't miss anything important to the series

How weird is it going to be when Rogue One plays into this conversation? Do you start with it? Do you watch it as an "extended flashback" immediately after 4? Or do you simply just go 1, 2, 3, RO, 4, 5, 6?

Hah, the amount of watching orders is gonna grow exponentially with each new movie and anthology film.

Btw, that got me thinking... what if Rogue One really does end with the rebel starship from the opening of Star Wars setting out for Alderaan? People will absolutely lose their minds.

I don't read this thread. But seriously... They're just awful.

I went on a tirade a couple weeks ago about the whole prequel argument itself and got some flak for it. I think Brian was mainly calling back to my phrasing of the whole thing. Everything's (hopefully) all good now. An Episode VII trailer cures all.

They have a young Leia available, even if just as a body double (we think), right?

Off the top of my head I'd go with the extended flashback option. It'll eventually be like watching Memento, here's what happened and, oh wait, here's what happened leading into that.

It ends with an Empire IT specialist in front of Palps saying, "Look, the thing's like 2 meters wide, nobody's going to put a torpedo in there, relax."

If they really want to screw with everyone's minds, they could go all the way to the point where the escape pod jettisons.

"Hold your fire. There are no lifeforms. It must have short circuited."
"Oh well, I could still use the target practice.", and he shoots the escape pod

And just like, we have a Star Trek-esque alternate timeline to make movies about

I let my 3 year old watch the pod racing scene as an introduction over the weekend. Got home from work last night, and he wanted to talk about that Star Wars race. Good things are on the horizon.

My wife and I went and saw Age of Adaline last night, which I surprisingly enjoyed. Harrison Ford was excellent in it, but the real spectacle was this young actor, Anthony Ingruber, who played a younger version of Ford's character, and was an insanely close version of Ford, especially his voice. If they ever do young Han Solo stand-alone, they gotta look at this guy. The film also stars Daario Naharis as Han Solo's son.
