Got it. In that case I'd watch up to the final arc, watch ROTS, then finish off with the final 4 episodes.

I mean, it's possible that Vader dies in the explosion. Biggs could also potentially survive. Luke doesn't become such a focal point of the Rebellion, and who knows what happens to Han.jokershady said:
Death Star still go boom.
Vader and friends are still in tie fighters and get into a dog fight with rebels + Han after Death Star blows up…..question is who wins?
Only reason Vader was taken out of the equation in the first place was cause Red leader missed and Luke had to go in on the trench run and Han came in out of nowhere and threw off Vaders wingman….now none of that happens

The explosion only happens when the Death Star fires it's main weapon.
Taika Waititi asked Natalie Portman to be in his new Star Wars film

The explosion only happens when the Death Star fires it's main weapon. The Death Star command staff knew about the danger of the vent shaft. There may have been enough time for them to abort the firing sequence. Vader phones in that the Rebels hit the target, and they abort the firing sequence
Death Star NO GO BOOM. Instead a full invasion of the base happens and we get a pretty good battle scene to end the movie!
Aside from the dramatic emotional effect, Luke's shot is partially successful because the Empire didn't have time to react to the torpedoes being true. Vader's in a death spiral and can't warn anybody.
So all this stuff had to happen in this order for the big boom.
Han never saves Luke and doesn't end back up at Rebel command getting his medal and becoming the love interest of Leia.Claude! said:
How would the Star Wars saga be different if Red Leader's photon torpedoes had gone in and destroyed the Death Star?
would you rather have your game erased or sit through the entire Star Wars Holiday Special? Bare in mind you'd be the only one in a solitary room….no windows…no cell phone….AliasMan02 said:

Leia and Luke end up hooking up in an incestual relationship not realizing they are brother and sister. This leads to a destructive domestic situation, one in which neither can quite pinpoint the cause, but it's because siblings are porking one another and is against the laws of nature.
Leia ends up mismanaging the Rebellion because her relationship with Luke is so dysfunctional and it seeps over into her professional life. The rebellion ultimately collapses because of this and the Empire wins out.
So the simple lesson here is that if you want freedom and liberty to win out over oppression and autocracy then don't pork your sister.

Close to it. I am not happy. In a rotten mood already and trying not to let that seep into my dealings with her for something clearly not her fault.

Maybe a dog picture will help your mood.

The real miracle of the original movie is that the Death Star gunner took his time before firing on the rebel base. Had he pulled the trigger right away, we could have had the rebel base destroyed AND the Death Star blown up

But the real answer is probably bc how long it takes to ready the laser to fire, could have given the rebels time to bring in heavy ships to fight?
Which begs the question, why weren't any of the heavy rebel ships around? We know from R1 they had some
