I hope you mean you missed the 3rd book completely, because the entire 3rd book revolved around the whole supernatural element.

I've heard Lindsay went about writting the following novels in the same manner as the first 2 without acknowledging the supernatural bull**** he created in the 3rd. But I still can't bring myself to read them after that.

Really really wish they could have managed to follow the second novel's plotline somehow as I liked it better than the first.

BTW - the extended preview following the episode has me intrigued on what this season will be.

I've always thought of Dexter as light entertainment, save for John Lithgow's season, and hoped for more each season.

I was also so happy the episode ended with his admitting he's a serial killer. I think they helped themselves out big time by not dragging out the "why is so much weird about Dexter" stuff when we've all been wondering when the Hell Deb was going to figure it out for seasons now.

It now makes more "WTF" stuff from last season make more sense-- Deb becoming Lt. Morgan (to heighten the stakes for when she finds out about Dexter), the stuff with the forensics intern (bc he seems to have a foil role for Dexter this season), Deb starting to think she loves Dex as more than a brother (so the concept could be immediately squashed but justify how she might shelter him from the law this season), and La Guerta's ascension as high as she is so she's a true rival for Deb this season as, presumably, Deb tries to hide what Dexter is while La Guerta follows the blood slide clue from the other side.

Can't wait for the new episode! Last one was very well done. Looking forward to see how Deb handles the new information and role of being in on Dexter's secret

I really don't like Dexter trying to change his ways. I knew it was too early to kill the intern but I was still disappointed.

But the ending did hint that he knew he really couldn't change.

Anyone notice Dexter possibly foreshadowing the Dark Passenger being an evil spirit, like Catch said it is in the books?

Didn't Lewis (I think that is the intern's name) buy the hand off of ebay before Dexter slammed his video game? I assume there is something more than that behind what Lewis is up to. Have I forgotten or missed anything?

Also, why was dexter about to kill Lewis? That would've violated Dexter's code.

Loved the first two episodes.

The more they contrast Harry v. Deb, the more I'm convinced that Harry is the Dark Passenger and that Harry and the way he raised Dexter created a serial killer, rather than providing a serial killer with a way to survive via a code.

The Gordon/Batman analogy mentioned above may be where this goes. Deb will at some point have to choose between turning Dexter loose on a bad guy or trying to let the system work. I think we all know which way that will go.

I think they killed what could've been an interesting storyline with Lewis. I felt that they had something more sinister planned for that but then decided against it at the last minute for this Russian storyline, which is the reason for the abrupt, almost cartoonish end to the Lewis character. Also, are we just supposed to forget that Dexter has a very young son that he never visits? Does he just leave him in his apartment to fend for himself?

Bautista's sister lives in the apartment next door and takes care of him.

Yeah I felt a bit cheated that the Lewis character got tossed to the side so quickly and that the entire arc of his story revolved only around the video game comment. I figured we'd get to see the 'real' Lewis after Dex got him fired/dumped.

With his computer experience and ability to cancel dex's bank accounts, I was expecting him to hack Dexter's computer and start figuring out he's been tracking murder suspects who've gone missing. I even thought he might offer his computer skills to Titus Pullo to help them catch Dexter after they found him on the boat. Why else bring up the Ice Truck Killer hand if Lewis is never going to find out about who he really is? The made a point of showing blood droplets on Dex's boat do I'm sure there will be some kind of twist with that. Maybe Deb thinks Dex kills him or it is the clue that Dex knows someone is on to him.

Liking the way this season is shaping up though and love the Rita upgrade with flower girl from that show Chuck. Hopefully she will be back soon. So hot

I personally loved the way they disposed of Lewis. They had everyone thinking he was a major player that was going to go head to head with Dexter, just to have him offed by the big bads. So many seasons I've been seemed so predictable to me, so I love it when they throw a curveball like that. I don't have a clue where they're going to take this season so far.

Thought I would like for Dexter to reveal more to deb. Like "Hey, remeber that time you had those two killers cornered and you let them go? Betcha didn't know I knew about that huh?But, yeah that was me and my girl Lumen. Where was your moral code then?"

I'm curious as to how the Lewis death will play out moving forward. They made it a point to show his blood hit the floor of Dexter's boat, so I can only imagine it will be a matter of time before black light hits the scene to expose it. Why would they suspect Dexter you ask? Babysitter/Girlfriend connection and what Lewis said to her before she stormed out of the apartment is the only thing I can think of.

Or maybe I'm diving too deep into small details. Perhaps the Lewis storyline is over for good as He was fired from Miami Metro and Babysitter dumped him.

I thought it was extremely cheesy the whole Ray Stevenson/Dexter conversation in the strip club. Foreshadowing way too hard for my taste.

Never seen Chuck, but evidently she was the main hottie on that show. Yvonne Strahovski, credited in 10 episodes of Dexter this season. Looks like we will be seeing more of her.

We saw the real Lewis. Internet tough guy that likes to mess with people. Got in way over his head way too quickly.

He exhibited the fake-tough guy behavior with the Russians and it got him killed. If he just says it's not his boat, he's doing work he can give the name and live.

I can't decide if I wanted Lewis to be more in the plot. It would've been predictable like seasons past, but him being an internet tough guy seems cheap (although realistic).

glad he wasn't. Lewis was just a chump kid. Would have been so boring had yet another person so close to Dex become a diabolical serial killer. He's just a dbag.

I would guess that when Lewis turns up missing, that Deb will look to Dexter. Dexter will deny and Deb will not believe him and forces more drama. Can't recall if Deb knew Lewis was in the trunk when Dex called her.

So many trails to Dex. I wonder if the mob drove his boat into the ocean and left Lewis in the water or on the boat.
