Ok, something very interesting that I noticed about the beginning sequence before the credits that I did not notice before.

That whole sequence took place in the opposite universe. You see how the city was spelled? "Manhatan", sure it could have been a simple error, but I do not think so. Also, the plans he was carrying arounding, it was the new pentagon plans.

Absolutely not an error. The Bad Robot guys are waaay too meticulous to do something like that accidentally! It was how it is spelled in the other universe.

great twist last night.

My thoughts... (spoilers of course)
.
.
.

1. As soon as the lady in the office said "Is that real coffee?" I knew we were watching the alternate universe.

2. Wasn't there a lady (an old friend/romance of Walters) that could see the "glimmer"? Why not just call her up instead of putting Olvia through all that?

3. Is anyone else slowly starting to turn against Walter? He was creepy when the show began but quickly became lovable. Now as we learn more about what he did in the past I really start to despise him. Specifically when Dunham had her hallucination and we saw the little girl saying "make them stop." That really got me. I have a 16 month old daughter and the thought of anyone doing something like that to her makes me want to kill that somebody. It's hard to like Walter when you think of him doing those things.

He is also quite clearly upset about having done those things. The scene where he was sitting in the room watching the old video, he was visibly despondent. Our Walter and the Walter before Bell took out portions of his brain are clearly different. Although, it does make me wonder what Walter X is like...brain with full capacity and pissed off.

We got a brief glimpse of "old Walter" in the episode where we found out about his missing brain parts and it was chilling. Walter is a much better person when he's half crazy.

Although you can hear him in the video of young Olivia from this episode and he's clearly worried about her reaction and suggesting they stop. Not that he did stop so still hard to like that version of him, but maybe he wasn't completely blinded by his scientific quests.

The scenes between Walter and Olivia were awesome last night. Not just good acting, but good storytelling as that type of confrontation has been building for almost two seasons now since we discovered that Olivia has been one of his test subjects.

"Fringe" has been renewed for a third season by Fox.

The move, confirmed to TheWrap Saturday by a Fox communications rep, isn't exactly a shocker: The J.J. Abrams co-created series is a favorite of executives at the network and has been a part of the network's successful attempt to jumpstart its long-struggling Thursday night lineup.

While "Fringe" doesn't burn up the Nielsen charts, the show has been a solid and consistent performer in the 9 p.m. Thursday slot. Paired with the more successful "Bones," the two shows have turned into a semi-potent twosome for the network.

More importantly, Fox's "Bones"-"Fringe" duo are on the upswing while most of the other shows on the night -- particularly dramas "CSI" and "Grey's Anatomy" -- are on the decline. Fox no doubt hopes that by playing a pat hand on Thursdays next season, it could become even more competitive as older shows continue to see their audience erode.

I hadn't realized there was another episode, and just watched it a few days ago. That had to be one of the more horrifying openings in the show's history.

Amazing episode overall, and I love Walter even more. I am kind of glad his brain pieces are now dead. Great scenes with Olivia, and we finally get confirmation that Peter is from the Alt.\\

I caught the misspelling of Manhattan but it did not occur to me that it was the alt.

Hopefully tonight is an interesting episode. The description sounds like a good one at least.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
13 mins in and I think it is shaping up to be the best episode of Fringe ever.

I think you were right about this episode, Gradin.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Absolutely fantastic episode.

I love the actor who plays Walter. He's great.

Also, it appears increasingly more likely that Walter from the other universe is the villian. His wife of the other universe knows that "Walter" took Peter, so the other Walter I am sure figured it out that our Walter took Peter.

absolutely awesome episode!

America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

I'm curious to see what the ratings are going to be for this one.

Btw, this is the episode description on wikipedia for the episode 4 weeks from now:
quote:
Walter tells a bedtime story to Olivia's niece, creating extreme versions of all the characters. Musical numbers and dance choreography ensue.

Not sure what to think of this...

Which part? Olivia letting Walter tell her niece a bedtime story, Walter creating extreme versions of the characters, or the song and dance bit?
Gradin
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would not be surprised that Fringe's numbers were not great last night due to the layoff, but Office was a repeat last night so maybe they did ok.
AgDC
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Walternet. Heh
'Back to the Future" starring Eric Stolz. Also heh.

I think I say this after every episode: but John Noble is absolutely amazing. I think I need to find out what else he has done and go watch it immediately.

As for the ratings, it might also get some help from the lead in of the first new episode of Bones as well.

John Noble was the Steward/"ruler" of Gondor in the LOTR. Kind of crazy in that role.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Walternate. That was great.

I was also a little surprised that his wife wanted to keep Alt Peter before Walter did. I figured Walter would've wanted to bring him over to replace dead Peter, but it sort of shocked me a bit that his wife said they needed to keep him first.

So glad this show is back. We all need more intelligent shows and less crap on tv.

Walternate still makes me giggle.
Gradin
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree that it was very interesting how the mother had a harder time facing the fact to let the alt Peter go back.
AgDC
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It should be interesting when Peter finds everything out. Especially when he realizes not only is his mother alive (if she is)in the other universe, but that it's his real mother from his real universe.
