Like Kunkel said, I have heard it is so incredibly bad that it is almost good

just got back. i went into it expecting a really bad movie. the previews made it look like a comedy. but it was actually good. there was a ton of action. its the first movie this summer to live up to the hype imo.

It seems tobe pulling "decent" reviews which surprise me....... I was expecting half stars everywhere

Look at who has reviewed so far- only 1 top critic, and primarily foreign publications and low-rent websites.

No real reviewers in the US have been able to see it, because they refused to screen it for critics...

Actually, the websites I frequent that have seen it say that it isn't "so f-ing bad it's decent" but that it's actually decent. I've heard it described as a fun, popcorn summer movie.

I was one of those who was ready to call this the worst POS ever made because of that first trailer. I grew up reading the comic, watching the cartoon and playing with the toys and that trailer looked like absolute dog**** that had no resemblence to the source material. Now, the movie geek websites (who, in this kind of movie, I trust more than the "real" movie critics) are giving it pretty good reviews. Granted, they went into it with lower-than-low expectations, but they still walked out of it digging it.

I'm taking my 6 year old son to see it tomorrow, and I can't believe it, but I'm actually looking forward to it.

For those that have seen it .... why the PG-13 rating? How "kid friendly" is it?

Went to the premiere last night and was very pleasantly surprised. Plot was nonexistent but the action sequences, which were about 80% of the film, were great. I can't remember a single groan-inducing moment.

Stop your lies!!!! It blows!!!! You can't convince me otherwise until after I see it.

I frequent three movie sites (CHUD, Ain't It Cool News and JoBlo.com):

-CHUD gave it an 8.5 out of 10
-At AICN, their three big contributors (Harry, Massawyrm and Merrick) "loved the **** out of it."
-JoBlo gave it 7.5 out of 10

Based on this good buzz, it may not be all that bad.

This movie has EPIC FAIL written all over it!

I just saw it, and it was good. I went in expecting VERY BAD, and was pleased.

The PG-13 is for the killing. I do not remember bad words or sex scenes/themes.

This sort of this pisses me off, how in the *****can you make the assumption that a movie was going to suck balls from a trailer.

According to the elite movie watchers on this site this damn film didn't stand a chance. It was clear from a 2 minute trailer.

Well, everybody (criticwise) said that Transformers 2 sucked and was the worst movie ever and I went and saw it expecting bad thigns and I loved it! My favorite movie of the Summer behind Star Trek. Critics are mostly ignorant.

It wasn't that trailers that said it was going to suck. It was all the news about how they had to fire staff and rework the script because initial screenings put it in the "worst than crap" section.

i agree the trailers were rediculous. they dont represent the movie at all.

and how can the critics dislike it when they hadnt even seen it?

just go see it for yourself, you will like it.

Because usually trailers take really good cuts from a movie to entice people into the theater. If the trailer sucks, then the assumption is that there wasn't much to pull from.

Decent summer flick,not nearly as bad as I had expected. Scarlet was pretty hot. Snake Eyes was a bad ass.

I think Sommers used almost every actor from The Mummy except for Rachel Weisz.

IGN trashed it like crazy at every turn, but then when they saw the finished product had good things to say.

glad to hear good things. going tomorrow and looking forward to it (29 year old who grew up watching the cartoon).

Coming from someone that loves big summer movies and has no problem with popcorn movies, Transformers 2 was the worst thing I've ever seen on a screen.

If G.I. Joe is any good at all then they had the worst trailer maker in the history of time. I mean hell even the trailors for most crappy movies look good, but this thing looked terrible.

Which films are universally regarded as the best films of the summer here? Star Trek, The Hangover, and Up. Which films have practically incited riots arguing over their quality? Term, Wolverine, and T2.

Seems the critics have fallen in line with everybody this summer...

I have to admit to going to see this movie because I wanted to see the train wreck. Was pleasantly surprised. Nothing Oscar worthy of course, but a good, stupid, fun summer action movie.
