Related story: Several years ago, I read about this called "Mighty Fitz." It mentioned a ship called the Edward L. Ryerson that helped search for the Fitz. A few years after that, my wife and I were on a boat tour through the Soo Locks between Lake Huron and Lake Superior. When we got to the Lake Superior side, we went right by the Ryerson, which had recently been put back into service. It was like looking at a living piece of history.

I'm sure it was posted...but 40 years ago today...I was a 3 year old living in Michigan and this is one of my earliest memories...watched a documentary on it tonight and it was very interesting...God bless these families as well as the many families that have tragedies...
