OP sounds like an insufferable humble bragger based on the reddit posting.
Sorry OP, you may have to give up one of your 3 annual vacations or sell more of your Astros tickets to recoup the cat's surgery.
To panhandle while simultaneously flexing on another board is disgusting.
Your cat deserves better.

I doubt there even is a cat.

If you take a deep dive into his Reddit posts, I think we might actually have mfbarnes 2.0 on our hands.
As a patron of fancy restaurants the service is always what we notice the most. The food is of course a driving factor in the places we frequent, but we always rave about service first.
Edit: at the fancier places we visit, we often have our favorite server and only go if we call and confirm will be sat in their section. Bonus points if our favorite sommelier is working as well, not having to worry about looking over a wine list and them knowing our budget/preference for wine/cocktails and just having them bring us something is such an added bonus to the service.

What hobby did you pick up as an adult that ended up costing way more money than you expected?
I knew going in golf was going to be expensive, never did I think it would lead to trips planned around golf. Trips aren't a required thing about the hobby, but seeing some of the courses that are out there, you gotta try them out. Also watch collecting.

Combining golf travel with watch collecting creates a uniquely expensive intersection of hobby-focused lifestyles.
The Cost Reality of Golf and Travel
Green Fees and Access: Premium resort courses and bucket-list layouts frequently charge $300 to over $600 per round, pushing a standard multi-day trip well into thousands of dollars before lodging or airfare.
The Travel Shift: Opinions are mixed, but many dedicated players eventually pivot their budgets away from constantly upgrading clubs and toward destination golf trips because unique course experiences offer lasting value.
The Watch Collecting Parallel
Double Financial Drain: Much like paying twice for golf (equipment and course access), watch collecting requires initial hardware investments followed by ongoing maintenance, servicing, and accessory costs.
Travel Synergy: Traveling for golf opens opportunities to visit authorized dealers, boutique grey-market shops, and watch-meetups in major cities or resort hubs, compounding the financial footprint of a single trip.

Outside of 15% into my 401k and ~$100/week into my Roth I prioritize $1000 into a HYSA. At the end of the month if my HYSA is over $12k I throw it into another S&P500 investment account. I still enjoy life and vacation 2-3 times a year with one vacation being international.
I make around $80k and engaged. Once we're married we will restructure.

This means he grosses about $6,666/mo.
15% to 401k = ~1,000/mo
22% to taxes = $1466.66
Med/Dent/Vis Insurance = $500/mo????
100/wk to Roth = 400-500/mo
$1,000 to HYSA
That leaves him with about $2,300/mo for bills and disposable income. That could go quick especially with wedding costs.
What's the point of saving all that money if you aren't going to use it for emergencies like this?
These people don't need money. They need a budget.
