Outside of 15% into my 401k and ~$100/week into my Roth I prioritize $1000 into a HYSA. At the end of the month if my HYSA is over $12k I throw it into another S&P500 investment account. I still enjoy life and vacation 2-3 times a year with one vacation being international.

We always do 1 US state and 1 European country a year. We're doing an Alaskan cruise next year and from what I've heard they're amazing, but we've never cruised.

We'll finish seeing all the states for my fiancs 30th birthday and then start doing Asian/Europe splits.

It was almost as much as the OP, more than $4K. We were leaving for a two week trip to Scotland the next day so we went ahead and had everything done right then. Xray, blood work, ultrasound, etc. They gave him fluids, antibiotics, appetite stimulant, and kept him overnight. Then my MIL stayed at our place and watched him for the next week making sure he got his meds.

Was it expensive? Yes
Could we have saved some money on his bills if we had waited till it wasn't the weekend and after hours? Also yes.

But we would have spent twice that by delaying our trip and rearranging our flights, stays, etc. We were also pretty confident that he was going to be fine. He just looks really stupid with a giant rectangle shaved on either side of his stomach.

A lot of people will think it's insane to spend that on a cat and I get it. But we don't have kids and our pets are part of our family. We are fortunate enough to be able to swing a bill like that. But there was a time where we didn't have that kind of money. We still would have made it work. I can't think of a single vet that doesn't have a payment plan option for stuff like that.

Page after page of new threads asking for advice about having the wedding in several high-end locations, all sorts of "Hey, I've got this much of this stock, when should I sell it" posts, car flexes for him and the fianc, and multiple posts about him and her "getting into" high-end wine, tequila, whiskey and wanting advice. Also humblebrags about a trip to Vegas.

I don't think they're trolling. I really think they're just that irresponsible. They had a Reddit post asking how to split costs for a shared hotel room and cabana. Lacking some basic math skills.

This whole situation is going to warrant an oral history or a 30 for 30 in the future. Because when you revisit the GoFundMe page, you also notice that the headline is a total lie. It reads

Help Hayes Recover After Emergency Surgery

Hayes doesn't need any help recovering. The vet gave him his pills and he's blitzed out of his mind right now. Hayes isn't the one getting married and he sure as hell didn't just put $5,600 on his Kitty Kredit Kard.
