No, my first name is common but my last name is not. Outside of family, I've never met anyone with my last name. I'm a teacher, and about 15 years ago, a teacher in the same city with my same exact name died in a car accident. That was an interesting few days from friends and coworkers that thought I died.

Yes. We grew up as friends since he was born. We're both Ags. Exact same first and last names.

Nope. If you Google my name absolutely no one alive other than me comes up. The only one elsewise that does is the deceased uncle I was named for. That's a blessing and a curse at the same time. Anything I do online and otherwise, under my name, comes straight back to me. At the same time, it makes searching for me and acting as me very easy and exclusive.

Never met one, but I had to start going by Ted Gein because my parents didn't know of the more famous person with my name. Or maybe my dad did.

No but ….

My last name is not common. Way back in the day they used to put your test grades on that green and white computer paper and tape it to the wall in large chemistry classes, you know the classes that have about nine sections with maybe 110 people in each section.
I didn't really pay attention to what my section was just of course what day of the week I went. I was pretty sure that I had scored a middle to high "A" on a chemistry test. I scanned the papers and I found my last name and I made like a 67. I knew it was a mistake, but I thought I simply got off track on the scantron. How in the world was I going to convince the professor?

In disbelief, I looked again and there it was a 67.

Last name, first name.

On the third look it was a different first name. I found my section. What makes this personally interesting is that I met someone with my same last name who was a client and I told them about this story and turns out it was her brother. I looked him up in the association, and he was the right age and had a major that would have put him in that class. He graduated and probably has made a lot more money than me, but damn him for scaring the hell out of me!

Yes. Two and my name is not common.

First one was an attorney with same first, middle, and last name.
He randomly looked at my LinkedIn profile and then messaged me lol

Second was someone who worked at one of our partner organizations. Bizarre to work in the same industry and business with someone that has the same name as you.

I've met a number of people with my name. Of course both my first and last names are pretty common. John Smith-esque. I've had people say "no, really. What's your name?" after meeting them.

Didn't meet them, but someone sent me a picture on my wedding day of another wedding taking place in NY where the groom had the same name as me. Not a common name.

There are only 2 others with my exact first and last name on FB. One of them lives on the West Coast but a friend of mine from A&M met him at a conference in Texas awhile back when they were seated at the same table. He was confused at first why I'd be there since we're not in the same field at all.

Apparently quite a few people, according to Google.

And I never met him, but there is an Aggie that is a few/several years older than me that I know of with my same first and last name.

Yes. I have a very common name.

My favorite was a dude that worked for PTTS while I was in school. I'd randomly get emails for him delivered to my inbox.

My email address was something like: samsmith@tamu.edu and his was like samssmith@tamu.edu, so it was easy to mis-key.

Well, apparently he could even be guilty of mis-keying his own email address because I began receiving DM notifications from blackpeoplemeet.com.

Anywhoo. I ran into him outside of Cain Hall one day and formally met him, saying "OH! Your the dude I get emails for sometimes." And he knew exactly what I was talking about.

My name isn't super common, but there's a guy at work with my same nickname which we both go by (though slightly different legal first name), and same last name.

So I get emails meant for him all the damn time.

I don't have a super common name, but one guy with the same first & last name combo was a big pioneer in SEO. I think he grabbed our name on every popular consumer email platform before I could for years. But when gmail was still invitation only, I got our name first, so I used to get lots of top secret emails from his interns and employees about projects they were developing. I was usually polite enough to reply to correct, but never heard anything back from them or him.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Not the exact spelling for either first or last name, but I actually went to high school in east TX with a guy that had a similar spelling for each name. Only person that I ever met that had a similar name. When I googled the name, I found a folk singer that had a similar name, and the one I went to high school with (former deputy arrested for kiddie porn.) I wish that I had not googled that.

When I started at A&M in the mid 90s, I searched for my name. I believe it was Gopher. Or maybe lycos or Alta Vista.
Wait, your name was either Gopher, Lycos, or Alta Vista? You didn't even know your own name?

Never met, but I share a first and last name with a former PM of New Zealand and a prominent NC attorney.

It has the very welcome effect of burying any Google search results that are actually me many pages deep.
