When I started at A&M in the mid 90s, I searched for my name. I believe it was Gopher. Or maybe lycos or Alta Vista. Yahoo was just emerging. Google was not even a thought in anyone's head.

I found a Professor's website and he had my exact first and last name so I emailed him. No reply.
I found a Masters student in a NE state and I emailed him. He was a year older, and we became good friends. Still are in touch now and then and it's almost 30 years.

During COVID when I went in to get vaxed they confused me with another guy in my general area with the same name.

One of my neighbors here texted me the other day with something random. Turns out he works with someone with my name so he got confused.

I have not yet met anyone with my exact first and last name. If I meet this guy above (Friend's friend), that is my best chance. The name is fairly common,. There is one at A&M with my name who graduated a few years before me.
One from my MBA class who is again senior and in Dallas. I used to get emails meant for him. One lady thanked me for attending an event and that she had a great time talking to me. She meant him.

Did have a guy call me in the middle of the night in 1996 after he somehow found my number. He was a Marine, drunk off his butt, thinking he was calling a Marine buddy from way back that shares my name.

When I was in college at Texas A&M there was another student with my same name there at the same time, except he had a middle name that started with an S. I was a student employee in the records office and I had access to computer system. When I searched my name, his name would come up, too. I was class of '01 and I think he was class of '02. We also lived fairly close together in College Station and sometimes he comes up when a credit check is run for my name. He also has unclaimed money with the State of Texas.

Met a fellow racer in Arkansas with the same first name and last name. He lives in eastern Arkansas and i live in western Arkansas. He won a $10,000.00 to win race in 1998 and everyone I know was congratulating me on the win. I had to tell them it wasn't me.

Went to middle school with a guy who had the same first and last name as me. Sometimes I would forget my lunch money at home and my mom would have to bring it to the school and drop it off at the front office. Half the time they would send it to the other guy by mistake.

He always took the money and never corrected them. Freeloader.

My last name was 'created' by someone at Ellis Island around 1904 when my grandfather emigrated from Eastern Europe.

There was a freshman Under Roos when I was a sophomore or junior, but I'm Under D. Roos. Showed up in August and they'd mistakenly given him my dorm room.

There's an Under Roos and Under Roos, Jr. at work. I get random emails for one, and FSA receipts for the other.

Great grandfather, Grandfather, Father and I. I am a Jr, so father and I have all three the same.

Great grandfather first name was his mother's maiden name. Carried down and ends with me. I only had daughters and the name just doesn't work for a girl.

Sister got her first name as a first name - I got her maiden last name as a first name (as explained above).

No, and I never will, unless one of my male cousins on my dad's side names a son after me. No one outside of my extended family shares my last name.

I had a manager in a previous company with a female first name. So when I search his full name on Linkedin, it's a bunch of females and my former manager who show up.

No, but there was someone in one of my classes at A&M that had the same last 4 digits in their SS number. It messed me up everytime I went to check my grades after a test.

There's someone else in Houston with my name. He and his wife had a baby at the same hospital as us a week before. It caused a lot of confusion when we checked in as they said you've already had a baby (no we had not).

Years later we were checking in to the super-nice Hotel Emma in San Antonio. They said I didn't have a reservation, but then I showed them my confirmation number. Turns out same guy with my name checked in an hour earlier and they cancelled me thinking they had put in the same person twice. Turns out the only room left was the suite - so we got the suite!

No. Not only is my first name ethnically Indian (dot), my dad made it up.

I've never met anyone in person who has my name but I know they exist out there in the ether.

The exception would be that I've met myself. Or have i? Sometimes I don't even know who I am.

I never even met someone with the same first name until, I **** you not, Fish camp. We had three of us in the same cabin.
