I'm about to throw a bunch out that I kept around for years as reference, but their usefulness is long gone thanks to the vast expanse of the interweb. When the time comes that it crashes, I won't need them anyway. I will keep a couple of favorites (My old boss Dr. M-I-l-f-o-r-d's soils book and another one or two where I had the authors for class), and a few of my plant books, but the rest goes to a book store for recycle soon.
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

My wife has threatened to do that with mine. I see retirement on my horizon and will probably do that when the time comes.

Not since I just took the last of them to the burn pile. Thanks for the reminder. I hate to get rid of unread books, especially so many first editions.

I kept all of my law books, but never touched them, so I donated them to the local library, so maybe some current law students can avoid buying books.

I still have my AP Bio book. DNA was hot stuff back in 1992. I kept Latin and some leadership texts from grad school, that's it.

From College? No. From my dual credit construction courses on plumbing, electrical, and carpentry in high school? Abso-****ing-lutely. Code may have changed, but the diagram in most of those are awesome for any time I'm completing a quick project.

Give them to your grandkids so they have something handwritten by their grandfather.

I had a 8 or 10 of them, mostly accounting textbooks. I am bad about hanging onto things, I do not recall ever referring back to any of them. When I retired and cleaned out my office to put it up for sale, I tossed them along with all the volumes of Tax Court cases that I used to get with my tax research service, back in the days before the internet. Must have been 60 or 70 volumes.

Got rid of most of my law books a couple of moves ago. Didn't have the space for them and never opened them. I may have my blue book somewhere, but that's probably about it.

I kept my basic CE book for reference from time to time. Along with a couple of Wildlife Ecology and Fisheries books. I still have my Keying out Fisheries book that I still identify fish with. Seems like the longer I live the more I forget!
I'm going to worry when I can't tell a largemouth bass anymore without keying it out!

That's actually a really sweet idea. I'd LOVE to have handwritten class notes from my beloved family members. Maybe not their business stats notes but the philosophy ones.

I have kept a few specific to areas I actively work on all the time, such as Physical and Chemical Hydrogeology by Domenico and Schwartz (still remember playing pool with Domenico at our house during Geology dept parties), Applied Hydrogeology by Fetter, and Aquatic Geochemistry by Stumm and Morgan. I don't really use them as much as I used to, but I don't really have anything else I want to put on the shelf space they take up. The rest I got rid of a long time ago.

Finally through mine away maybe 15 years after graduating. Ironically, I have several of my grandad's college books from the early 40s. And some of his and my grandmother's college yearbooks. I won't get rid of those.

Sorry I pegged your for a male. Like I said, I don't pay too close attention and tend to assume incorrectly that most posters are guys.

My dad farmed and kept his ledger by hand. When he died, we found an old ledger (about 30+ years old) that was covered in dust and smelled like cigarettes. My mom and brother were going to throw it out, but I grabbed it because it was important to my dad, and he had put all those entries in himself.
