If I was in the Olympics and came down with Covid, I wouldn't know it because i wouldn't take a test. But if I knew I had it, I wouldn't say anything. Not going to be forced home or miss my chance because of something silly like that.

There is a zero percent chance that I'd tell anyone I had Covid if I were in his shoes, and if I were a fellow olympic athlete who knew of his dilemma, I would say the same. It doesn't matter if I was his roommate or direct competitor, I'd feel the same about his decision as I do now.

Since the results of the test had not effect on whether he was allowed to compete, I fail to understand why he even tested in the first place.

I just realized I said boycotting instead of banned, but Russia is more competitive in sports that the Chinese typically do well in than the sports America dominates. Russia may have taken a couple of golds from the US, but they would have taken more from China.
