Did you man up and tell them to leave their dogs at home?

With all due respect, don't bring your dogs to any retail establishment, and please don't bring your 'service' cat or dog on a plane.

My dog is better behaved and not nearly as loud as most people's kids. Could we also ban people from bringing kids into stores so us non kid having adults can enjoy our shopping?

Just came back from Home Depot and no dogs sighted. Just a bunch of hard-working people buying things to get sht done instead of folks who get separation anxiety if they don't have their dogs with them.

Well of course. It's too early for the selfish d-bags to be out and about.

If your Home Depot is like mine, any dog you may bring into the store is probably smarter than any of the folks working there.

You'd be surprised just how smart are some of the folks that work at Home Depot. Next time you go in ask some of the "older" folks what did they do before they came to HD. You'll find lots of retirees who are sitting on mountains of quid with a comfortable retirement in front of them. Some of them treat it as a second job while working from home at any hour they want while taking off for four hours a day to "play". They just want to get out of the house... socialize... kill some time...

Don't ask me how I know.

The floor folks aren't too bad, it's the cashiers/customer service I was more referring to.

It was the customer service people I was suggesting were smart.

1. You old cranks who don't get a smile from a clean, well behaved dog at a hardware store are the kind who don't hug their children because it might make them soft.

2. The trades have a tradition of having job site or shop dogs. It's part of the down to earth nature if the trades.

3. The old guys at HD in the electrical and plumbing sections are the only knowledgeable ones. I laugh at the kids in lumber and hardware and some of the advice I hear them give out. They are hired muscle, not insulation and roofing specialists.

The home depot near me has a sign up saying they welcome dogs. I had no idea it was allowed before I saw that sign.

I should NEVER have to interact with someone else's dog in public. Anyone who can't make it through Home Depot or anywhere else without their dog should be publicly ridiculed until their behavior changes.

I assume this statement excludes people who have a service dog, and can literally not go anywhere in public without their dog.
The public is not supposed to interact with service animals. They are working animals.

Yes. But i also assume that the person I was responding to doesnt willingly go interact with non service animals in stores based on their post, hence my assumption.

Man, covid really needs to go away. People are starting to really try and get upset about just about anything.

Nah, selfish narcissists were bringing their dogs to Home Depot way before Covid started.

I love dogs, but I've never understood people that feel they have to take them shopping or out to eat.

I agree with you except at an outdoor bar on a nice day on a weekend. That is acceptable in my opinion. Would never bring my dog to a "restaurant restaurant" even on the patio but a bar that has brunch or something to eat is OK with me.

***** brought her ***** to the restaurant we were at Saturday. Nothing like dining al fresco with your yapping rat dog.

Is that a bar? Like I said dogs at outdoor bars that have food is acceptable. Not at a restaurant.

As the weather gets colder up here, I'm seeing more and more dogs at Home Depot and Lowe's. I'm pretty sure that their owners have no interest in home improvement supplies. The place is just becoming an indoor dog park.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way once.

I was at a restaurant one day, when someone walked in with a service dog. I usually ask people's permission before petting their critters, but that day I wasn't thinking and reached down to gave it a quick pet on the head.

Needless to say, I got my head chewed off, which I no doubt deserved, but was a bit taken aback by the tone of it (you would have thought that I had just tried to push an old lady out into traffic, or had stolen candy from a baby). That said, I'm sure the owner was probably short on patience due to other idiots doing the same over time, so I guess you have to cut them a little slack (even if it seemed a bit over the top). That said, it got the point across, so I have given all service animals I've encountered since then the very widest of berths.

I'm a dog person so don't mind dogs at HD, Lowe's etc. I'd much rather the owners bring them in the store than leave in the car.

I'm a dog person. And you should leave your ****ing dog in the car.
That's a terrible idea. Just leave the dog at home. It's the worst of the 3 options to leave the dog in the car, rather than both taking it into the store or leaving it at home. Sun / temperature / no air and all.
