There are a couple of threads on the Health and Fitness forum - some pretty long discussion - about CBD. Might want to cross post there.

Good luck to you and have fun on the cruise.

Again, thanks for the help and well wishes! I can't use the real stuff, with my pain mgmt agreement, I am Pee tested and if I flunk that, I am banned for three months and the other pain mgmt folks in town have an agreement, to not see me if I am banned at one doctor. That's done to prevent Dr. shoppers.

Seven, thanks for the offer, I will buy some from you, but would hate to take some of your "stash".

Pee tested for THC? That makes no sense.

What if you travel to Colorado and legally use it?

I would think if anyone met the requirements, it would be OP.

Hell if OP is hesitant to break the law, when no one would really care, go up to Colorado for a week and give it a test drive.

Not necessarily

Prescriptions for CBD with THC are authorized only for epilepsy in Texas

As far as "nobody caring", the medical board, the ones in charge of revoking medical licenses, would sure as hell care if a doctor is writing unauthorized scripts, as would the Barney Fife that pulls OP over on the interstate

non-THC CBD is legal over the counter in Texas

EDIT ... I do agree with your post on Kratom... it is very effective for pain... just make sure you get it from a reputable vendor. Problem is that stuff is mostly sold in head and smoke shops, and comes straight from Indonesia... Pretty much impossible to know what you're getting unless you lab test it... it is great For pain though, feels just like an opioid ... and is 100% legal for now....I believe it will be outlawed at some point

Kratom can also be addictive so be careful
No question that you are correct on whether the Medical Licensing Board would care, just as much as Law Enforcement. That is a reality.

The other way to look at this is as a moral issue. This guy is about as close to deaths door as you can be, and he is clearly suffering. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't care what the drug laws were, as long as I didn't hurt anybody else by using them.

I also know that if I were on a jury and a case came before me where this guy was being prosecuted for drug charges for cannabis in his current medical state, NO FREAKING WAY am I going to vote to convict him NO WAY! I would sure as hell hope there would be a majority on that jury who would agree with me.

I believe the laws need to be changed in our state. Who are we to judge the actions of someone who is at deaths door and in very real pain and suffering? How can you call yourself a compassionate person and not tolerate people in these kinds of situations seeking relief?

I have personally witnessed my sister, brother, mother and father, aunts, and good friends too, die from cancer, Pain, suffering and misery at the end of their life. The worst kind. Anybody who tries to tell me they didn't deserve a better end is full of BS. Every one of these good people deserved better choices.

Legal for epilepsy only my ass.

BTW, this is not directed at you personally, Captain Pablo.

And I wasn't saying no one would care as far as the medical field goes. I'm saying, if they got it on the street and used it, no one would care legally. No cop is going to go after a seriously ill person trying to lower their pain.

Smithjg,

Buddy, I'm sorry to go off like that on your thread, but I feel pretty strongly about this. I've had enough of death and suffering, and I sincerely hope and will pray that you are able to not only get the pain under control, but also get thing set up where you can have a good life for as long as you can.

I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiments, but "your ass" notwithstanding, it is in fact legal only for epilepsy

What also doesn't change that is "what you would do if you were in a jury"

I made no commentary about whether legality should be broadened, or whether such prohibitions are moral/immoral

Hmmmm.... now THAT I can assure you is NOT the case

Cops in many parts of Texas would arrest you if presented
Texaggie7nine

If presented sure. But I doubt the vast majority of them would go out of their way to find a medically ill person using. Hell 20 plus years ago in high school, cops usually just threw away our pot and told us not to do it again. Most cops are pretty capable of judging a situation.

Ok but that's not what you said

How do you think this is normally presented?

Do you think it works like a cop pulls a guy over, smells burning weed, finds it, informs the guy he's under arrest, then changes his mind when the guys tell him he's using it medicinally?

Heck no, man

Dude is usually going to jail, and is left to plead for leniency and consideration from the County Attorney and judge or jury

I never said cops frequently go out of their way to seek out cancer patients using weed in their homes

That's not how it works

These decisions are made on the side of the road, and on video

Cops aren't generally gonna cut someone loose because they say they are a cancer patient

I can tell you as FACT that's not how it works

My purpose was to convey how low risk of an activity it would be if they decided to pursue using actual cannabis. So long as they aren't driving around with it in their vehicle or using it publicly, there really is no real risk. The ones that get caught are the dealers and the casual recreational users.

The wrinkle of being pee tested for THC in order to remain in the pain treatment program though is pretty crazy.

I agree with you there

The risk of getting caught and prosecuted for weed is pretty low as long as you're not being a dumbass and driving around with it in your car

As far as pee testing, I get why they're doing it

Doctors are probably walking a pretty thin line with the protocol they already have him on ie, opioids for chronic pain... they are being watched very closely

They are going to be cognizant of any departures from that protocol, and that includes illegal drugs

Again, do not conflate what should be, with that which is

I think if cannabis is helpful, it should be accessible

Unfortunately, we're not there yet and doctors have to play by the rules

Rwtx, no big deal buddy, I appreciate the input and all the different opinions and options, from everybody.

I wouldn't say I'm "on deaths door" exactly, but at one point in Sept., yes, I apparently was! After 50ish days in the hospital, it's all good now. Looking forward to the blue water and white sand in 16 days, then we start a new chapter. Like I said, One Way or the other, I got this! Gig 'em & BTHONCSt!

So to top off the end of my fabulous 2018, my Best Friend, my dog Jaxson died about 3:30!

He had been sick this past week, and my wife took him to the vet, where they sent him home with some meds. That was Wednesday. About an hour and a half ago, he passed away.

Jaxson was the most loyal, most protective dog we have ever seen. No matter where you were in a room, he always stayed between you and the main door way. At night, he slept (mostly) in the hallway leading to the rest of the house.

Damn, 2018 sucked for me......

I've used drops (ingested) and ointment. The ointment is great for muscle and joint pain, starts working in about 5-10 minutes and lasts 3-4 hours. The drops are good if you are an anxious person or need to go to sleep. I was using them for sleep and decided to stick with melatonin.

Not sure if you already found a source but www.spectrumhemp.com is a 100% organic, non gmo, THC FREE & honest company that has a full line of CBD products. They are based out of Dallas Texas so all Texas orders get free 1 day shipping. There are a ton of companies in the industry that are dishonest about their ingredients and products, that's why so many people don't believe it truly works. Spectrum Hemp has a 3 step testing process and all test results are available. They are honest and transparent through their entire process to ensure to provide the best product for their customers. The company started after the founders sister was diagnosed with ALS. Her quality of life was horrible, as you can imagine, and the medicine she was prescribed left her fuzzy headed, disoriented, and loopy. She had days she wouldn't remember her brother visiting her. Finally as a last resort her brother, the founder of Spectrum Hemp, asked her if she would be willing to try cbd. She quit all her medication and her family was able to have their sister back for the last few months of her life, someone they hadn't seen since before the diagnosis.

If you have already found a source and don't get the results you were hoping for - I encourage you to try spectrum hemp. You can use the code newyears10 for 10% off.

Working with my pain management doc, today she suggested trying the THC Free Cannabis Oil. I am currently on hydrocodone, hydromorphon, gabapentin and amitriptlyne on a daily basis, but we need to add something or up the meds more, so the CDB Oil is one option.

Has anyone here tried it, with any luck? if so, was is as an edible, liquid or what? Where did you buy it? Thanks.....
Capsule form from CBD Plus. No la la land effects, it didn't do anything for me, lady friend has fibrimyalgia, works great for her. Do all you can to get off the narcotic pain killer, it will shorten your life. If you in that much pain, get a med marijuana script. it's not as bad as the dope you have listed above.

if you are already only dilaudid then a freakin fentanyl patch might be the only thing stronger, damn did you have a leg blown off or something
A fentanyl patch is definitely a possibility! No blown off leg, but after a surgery, my body became "septic" or sepsis shock, whatever it is. Dr. amputated half my foot but saved the heel. Infectious disease specialist and hospitalist both said I was within a couple of days of death, but the podiatrist saved my life by doing what he did, when he did it.

I rolled into his office in a wheel chair for a follow up foot appt. and thought I had the flu. The wife said I ate a total of three meals in two weeks. He recognized the problem and within an hour, I was in emergency surgery to debride or cleanup and remove the infected bones in my foot.

While in the hospital for 50ish days battling that, cancer was found in my pancreas. since Sept 5, I have had four foot surgeries, had half my pancreas, all of my spleen and a **** ton of lymph nodes removed. Start chemo in Feb.

Add in a severe case of Neuroplathy and life's a beetch right now. No foot blown off, but it sure as hell feels like it!

That's universally done. Your urine is tested, in part, to make sure that you ARE taking your medications if you say that you are taking them. In that way, they know that you aren't saving them up to kill yourself later or selling them on the street. You're tested for illicit substances because the pain doctor has no idea as to what you're getting if you're taking something illegal, and just how concentrated that substance might be and what interactions it might be having with your prescriptions. The liabilities in pain medicine (not my specialty but I HAVE stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before (albeit not last night)) are huge.
