+1 for Westbank Grill. Had the 16 oz dry aged ribeye cooked medium and still can't help but think how good that steak was everytime I eat a steak somewhere else. Had a slight crisp on the outside and the perfect seasoning blend

Not the best, but surprisingly good is the ribeye at Carrabba's. The best I've had was a ribeye at Austin Land and Cattle (med rare). The worst was a ribeye at Texas Land and Cattle.

+1 for Gordon Ramsay in Vegas.

But there are a lot of good steakhouses in Vegas that are hard to choose between. At some point a great steak is a great steak.

Del Friscos on Mockingbird in Dallas. (Or maybe its Lemmon near Mockingbird?)

1994-5?

Ribeye Med-Rare and outside had a black crispy crust. Over 20 years and hundreds of challengers.

Still the best I've had

Edit: so I looked it up. If they havent moved in 25 yrs, looks like off of near McKinney @ Olive.

Tabasco peppered American skirtsteak wagyu, 10oz. medium rare from Heritage steakhouse in the Mirage LV. Not just the steak, but I got the grilled shrimp add-on, Caesar salad (w/anchovies) and cheesy risotto side. Combine that with 3 Blanton's old fashioneds, and it's pretty much the best meal I think I've ever had.

Close second is at the Saltlik in Calgary, had dry aged ribeye, cooked m-r, with ahi tuna tartare appetizer. Also with about 3 old fashioneds.

Also convinced my mormon coworker to have a drink, which turned into about 3 scotches for him across the street at the James Joyce pub.

That sounds awesome but using blantons for an old fashioned is heresy

I don't know if I just grew up eating too much steak or what but nothing stands out as "the best". I've ate at several of the top steakhouses in TX and they have all been about the same. Good, but not "oh my god this is the best thing ever good".....in all honesty I prefer small town country steakhouse ribeyes over most dry aged, wet aged, etc that cost $50.

JW's in carmine cooks a good steak.

Best steakhouse meal though is a toss up between Brenner's on I-10 and Pappas.

Hate me, but I love my filets. Medium rare. Cream spinach, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes as the sides.

Best I've had is Al Biernat's in Dallas.

Hillstone is my other solid go to for steaks.

I was severely underwhelmed the last time I went to Al Biernets. I've gotten much better steaks at Eddie V's right down the street. I've been meaning to try Town Hearth

I can second that. I also had an Akaushi prime filet there that was incredible, mind blowing really. Other worth mentioning is wagyu filet topped with blue cheese medium rare at Chicago Chop House; a truly perfect steak every time.

That makes me sad to hear. I haven't been there in a few years since Hillstone is closer and easier to get in and out of. I used to love Al's for brunch.

I'll go ahead answer for some of you mouthbreathers that it was a well-done sirloin at Outback and covered in ketchup.

Good lord how has College Station's The Republic not been mentioned?

The best steak I've had is a filet from there. The value is incredibly high and is probably College Station's best kept secret.

Have been to the Del Frisco's of the world (both Houston and NYC), the Ruth's Chris of the worlds and the Capital Grille's of the world, and none come close to The Republic.

Smith and Wollensky is overrated. Haven't been to Peter Luger.

Went to this tiny little hole in the wall restaurant in zermatt Switzerland and had chateaubriand served tableside. The chef was one dude in a corner over a small open fire. Place wasnt even supposed to be open but they didnt have a reservation for a couple of hours and let us in anyway. We are going back in 2021 and will be going back but with a reservation this time!
