What's your favorite area or town?

Grew up in east Texas, but I'm most partial to the desert west in the Franklin mountains.

Southwest Houston. From a certain jogging trail, I can gaze out upon the Galleria, the med center, Greenway plaza, or just watch the traffic on Highway 90. It's breathtaking.

I wouldn't know. The two years I lived there, I pretty much barricaded myself the entire weekend.

I've experienced it quite accidentally. Good times.

Anyone here ever taken the Sunset Limited to Alpine/Marfa? I'm mildly curious about it, but not sure how much expense and time it would add to the trip.

I think its the people that make it so great. Especially the transplants that have taken over the place.

Two of my favorite drives are FM 1431 between Marble Falls and Cedar Park and Hwy, 32 along the Devils Backbone.

I love the bluebonnets in Washington County, but I think overall, the Hill country wins.

Texas Country singers need to start making more reference to the Panhandle in their songs that celebrate the names of various towns in Texas.

Really is underrated. I've seen some homes and small ranches tucked away that could be featured in Texas Monthly if they were from the Hill Country instead of DEETX where the red dirt roads are still red dirt roads. But I think most folks are fine with the lack of attention.

Back when I was in school, my favorite part of the drive was the stretch of 21 between Crockett and Madisonville. Lots of those big ranches on that stretch.

Deep East Texas (where I grew up) is probably my favorite, but Big Bend and the Hill Country are great too.

Nothing beats watching the sunset as the ships go by while enjoying family time at Pleasure Island.

It actually is kind of cool watching the ships come into Sabine Pass from the battleground park, if you're not used to seeing that sort of thing. You can enjoy a sandwich and the sunset while listening to angry-sounding foreign language announcements on the ship's speakers.

I imagine the answer is 1) Big Bend 2) Guadalupe Mountains 3) Hill Country 4) Central Texas 5) East Texas Piney Woods 6) Gulf Coast Marshlands
