Maybe he will realize he feels better without sugar and keep it up. Maybe he'll just cut out added sugar most of the time. Either way, it will be a change for the better.
That is the goal. Even if I can only quit drinking Dr. Pepper I will be immensely better off.

That's how it originally started, I wanted to get off Dr. P for a month.

Then I thought "well, you dont really eat that much sugar than that otherwise, why not just cut it out completely"

Then I sprinted to my computer to author this fine thread

How am I half assing it? By only doing it for 30 days?

Was I half assing it when I grew my hair out in high scool, since I didnt wear it long forever?

Yes, let's discourage the guy from making healthy changes in his life because he may not make a long-term lifestyle change.

Why not just say, "ah **** it, you'll just be eating donuts and ice cream in a month or two so why even try?"

You don't make long-term lifestyle changes without actually giving those changes a chance. Maybe he will realize he feels better without sugar and keep it up. Maybe he'll just cut out added sugar most of the time. Either way, it will be a change for the better.
I'm not trying to discourage anyone. I just think if you're going to make healthy changes, you should go into it with the thought of the changes being permanent. It's really hard to semi-commit to anything. And if you PLAN on making permanent changes you will more likely stick with it. Temporary healthy changes don't help all that much.

Just keep in the back of your head that it's not necessarily just a "30-day experiment" but a trial run at a COMPLETE change. Then as Woody said, if it works you'll keep it up. And if it doesn't work then it's not really that good and you can move on to something else.

How about this...

I will go into it hoping I can permanently kick processed sugar completely forever, but knowing that it is not likely.

and

knowing that if (when) I eat processed sugar again, I will not eat it in the amounts I currently do.

NOW can I proceed with your blessing? Because I don't want to embark on this dietary discovery without it

Yes, you may proceed. With caution.

Look, eat sugar all you want. Just eat out fewer times each week. Maybe just once or twice. Eat a protein, steamed broccoli and a serving of rice. Then a cup of ice cream. Exercise and worry less about diet.

Tandy, check your PM. I just sent you a schedule of the diet, activities, and general lifestyle choices I consider appropriate for a poster of your gender, weight, and moral character. I hope you'll follow it to the letter for your own good. As defined by me. Because I know best.

Went to the grocery store, shopped for a week for like $45. Cooking for the week now. 15 hours in and my head hurts a little... could be no caffeine today

You can have coffee while you're detoxing. Just don't add sugar or cream.

You'd be surprised how good coffee can taste without the added stuff if you're buying something other than Starbucks.

Black coffee done right is awesome. Find you some Illy brand. Quite taste.

3 pages and the plexus community hadn't come out saying it's a miracle that helped them kick sugar and lose weight, and pitching a $300 a month product?

I'm impressed.

I stopped drinking "cokes" (sodas, for you yankees) when I was 16. It's been 20 years, and haven't looked back.

Tip is that all simple processed carbs are like sugars to the body. You need to cut starches and alcohol as well to achieve results.

All carbs are converted into sugars. Look at the glycemic index for each item to determine how long you have before it is broken down. The slower the better as you have more time to utilize it as fuel before it is broken down.

I don't really eat a lot of carbs other than chips/fries. I don't eat much bread as it is, no potatoes 'cept fries, no rice or gravy. Don't drink very often either. Carbs were never my main source of sugar.... It was Dr Pepper
