Good luck. You will be surprised by the number of things you eat or drink that have sugar in them,

What do your meal plans look like?

Breakfast? Mostly eggs I guess?
Lunch?
Supper?

And don't forget snacks. If you want to do veggies and dip, most dips have a ton of sugar. You will need to make your own. And not with a package of ranch dressing mix and some store bought mayo.

Breakfast will be mostly eggs. I should be more specific; sugar that occurs naturally in fruit and dairy will be allowed (I'm more worried about the refined)

Snacks will be nuts or something.

Have you tried bofa yet?

Just make sure to read all labels for breads and sauces. They have an insane amount of sugar sometimes.

Good luck

I don't like bread. Serious question though.... do carbs from grain get converted to sugars during digestion?

Yes. Glucose, maltose, and maltotriose(sp?).

Yes they do.

Check out paleo recipes for some good ideas.

We do them sometimes to mix things up with Benny being GF.

If you plan on doing a lot of seeds and nuts, watch the sodium on them.

Your body will treat all sugar the same, man. Doesn't matter where it comes from. If you really want to go sugar free say adios to fruits too.

Be sure to empty all that sugar in your gas tank.

Added sugars is what is bad, naturally occurring sugars in fruit is ok.

The added sugar is what I'm trying to completely refrain from. Naturally occurring is ok. I mean most vegetables have sugar in them. But cutting out processed sugar (which means most processed foods) will cut down on my sugar intake by >95%. So I would say as long as I limit fruits to 3 or 4 servings a day the amount of sugar from that, veggies, dairy, and the rare grain will be negligible.

I've done 2 rounds of 30 days of no added sugar/no alcohol.

Everything must be made from scratch and you must read labels religiously.

Both times I lost 10#. I always go back to the hard stuff though. I feel great during those 30 days, but I have a hard time with moderation when I enter back into the world of desserts. I've got quite a sweet tooth.

If I lost 10 pounds I would look like an Ethiopian distance runner.

And moderation on the other side is what I'm worried about as well.

Actually I'm worried I'll make it at all

Did this a bunch of times. Not bad at all. You just need to plan your meals. Lost a bunch of weight the first time and changed my eating style for the better.

Yeah I actively seek it out after every lunch and dinner. My meals don't feel complete unless I've had something sweet. Fruit doesn't cut it. During the first 10 days of the 30 I am like a raging alcoholic that's been cut off. The next 20 I'm good.

Whole 30 is never going to happen. I will never cut dairy from my diet. My Northern European ancestors didn't not evolve lactose tolerance over centuries just for me to flush it down the toilet.

Did Whole 30 in August, the hardest part regarding sugar was the sauces. No ketchup, BBQ, soda, etc.

Plus going out makes it miserable sometimes, so if you're a home body then it won't be too bad if you're well prepped.
