So as not to derail the Secret Santa thread, here's how X-Wing works:
We have a standard, basic game. I'm flying the X-Wing against two TIEs. We've been playing a few turns and we start this turn in this position:
The next turn starts with a move. I look at the board and try to figure our where my opponents will end up, and where I want to be to both be in the best firing position and hopefully give my opponents poor position.
I check the available moves on my dial (dials of each ship have different moves available), and secretly pick one. I settle on a two hard turn to the left. I won't know what my opponents are doing until it's their turn.
The TIEs have initiative, so they move first. They reveal their dials and make their moves.
Now I get to make my move.
Not bad! I can bring guns on one of the TIEs and I'm out of his arc. The other has me in the same situation, though.
Since I moved last, I get to shoot first. I roll a number of attack dice, and the TIE rolls a number of defense dice, each according to the ship type.
The "eyeball" result aside (it can be modified by certain cards and abilities), the X-Wing gets one Hit and one Critical, versus the TIE's single Evade. This ends up with my X-Wing getting one Critical result. A good hit! Different ships can take a different number of hits.
Then the TIEs get to fire, then it's back around to a new turn with a new move stage, and so on until someone is wiped off the board.
