I worked there during the summer of 1975.
Six Flags had just bought them as I recall.

I saw a few day-care kids, but not the hood-rats...Maybe it became a problem later.

Yeah I don't exactly think the daily operations of 1975 played a big factor in its demise.

When you say "kids having sex all over the place" could you elaborate on that?

That was about the time my wife and I took her teenage brother.

He was afraid of roller coasters too. On the one (Flashback?) he thought it was over but it was only half way done. I still remember him muttering, "Oh no". lol

I will always remember riding the Ultra Twister the first day that it opened. Had a lot of great memories of AstroWorld. Used to be able to drive past there and hear the screams of people on the rides. Always loved that.

It is really weird that by looking at that map, I can remember all those places pretty vividly. I only went to Astroworld a few times but I remember the alpine slide, bamboo shoot, thunder river, that stupid tram over the lake, the waterski show, the cyclone, and the one roller coaster with the loop. One of my buddies played the clown in the waterski show. I remember that wagon wheel puke machine that no one would ride, so we rode it over and over just since there weren't any lines.

Heck I even remember going through the gate up at the top of the map to go see Night Ranger play a concert. Met a cute girl standing next to me at that show. Had to be early in High school.

Wow, all that comes back just from seeing a map of the place.

I was at that NightRanger show!

Also got dragged to a show to see Power Station and Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark. Met a hot girl there who liked my shirt and pulled me into the crowd to get closer to the stage. I thought I would never find my friends again.

We were both probably 17. She was pretty drunk.

I think the guitarist just died.

They were good! I didn't find out until a day or two before that Robert Palmer wasn't touring with them and he was replaced by Michael De'Barres (sp?), but they were good live.

I can't remember any song that OMD plays. I would have to Google it. I was into hard rock and metal at the time, so this wasn't really my thing, but Andy and John Taylor are good musicians.
