Same. I went to bed at the end of the second expecting to wake up to a loss.

I've now seen two Dallas writers and one Pittsburgh writer throw out that the Stars might be interested in Malkin as a Seguin replacement.

His contract (around $6M) would also leave enough space to get some help on the blueline.

Couple of hurdles:
1. He has a full no trade clause that he would have to waive. But for a chance to compete for a cup while Pittsburgh tries to rebuild may do the trick.
2. He has one more year after this one on his deal. Seguin will be back on the books next season, so fitting both under the cap may get real dicey.

Malkin on this roster wouldn't suck.

I know we have more of our own young guys to pay next year, but the cap is going to go up substantially so I would guess they could make it work with only one extra year remaining.

The Stars are probably going to give their young guys like Bourque as much run as possible before they make a move, or unless the season starts to unwind.

Hopefully it would be more successful than the Jagr experiment. I know the team is in a very different place now so not a fair comparison other than being a superstar from Pittsburgh.

This is a bridge season. We will have a chance to win it all next season. Nill won't do anything short sighted with how good of players we have in Round Rock.

The Stars don't feel like they have really hit their stride yet, which is either completely terrifying for opponents or concerning.

It's a long effing season. They will be balls out after the four nations tournament and most of the team will be rested.

Olivier makes no sense though. He isn't very good and is not a "big fish". There will probably be a lot of other names thrown around that don't materialize, but something is probably happening late February.

Agreed. Stranges has also stepped up big time this season in Cedar Park. May be the perfect time to "sell high" with him. Regardless, we have the players and draft capital to go get what we need/want.

Dumba didn't skate yesterday and is being evaluated.
But given that there are other options, I think this is a "kick the tires" move. Need to know what we have before we go big game hunting in the trade market.
