I'm not going to read too much into that loss last night. Carolina and the Stars have been two of the best teams in the NHL for the better part of 5 years now, and that felt like a playoff game. Plus I thought we played really well for large stretches and were unlucky to not go up 2-1 or tie it 2-2. Carolina stood on their head all night with blocking shots etc.

What I will say is that I think we need another legit d-man. I think everyone here knows it as well, but in games like last night we need someone else to initiate offense because Miro and Harley cannot do it all. Preferably a right handed d man as well, because as a team I think we are WAY to left hand dominant and it shows at times during the game.

ETA: I think the absences of Marchment and Seguin have hurt us more than I thought they would from a results standpoint. Yes it has forced guys like Bouque and Stankoven to step up, or at least try to elevate their game (which is good for their development), but we absolutely miss those two guys experience and ability to put the puck in the net. The Stars area good team, but I think we are missing that great piece to make it all click, at least until one of Bourque or Stankoven can turn themselves into a legitimate offensive threat.

We're about to start reaping the awards of having these young guys getting so much time. I feel like in 4-5 games in the last month it has been close to getting opened up by those guys, just need to get the puck in the net. Have a feeling that starts happening shortly… at least I hope.
