Agree on Sydney and Mondo.

I struggle with how to compare Hocker to Chebet or Hassan.

I'm still trying to sort out how Chari Hawkins let herself no height the heptathlon high jump. Just crazy to me how her team let that happen

It happens in multi-events, could be from a lingering injury or the opening height is at their PB.

She skipped 4 or 5 heights. Her PB is 1.85m. She couldn't get over 1.71m. They started at 1.56, I think.

Unless the moment just totally got to her, they totally misread her current form or something. It's just doesn't make much sense

I was talking generally not specific to her. Maybe they wanted to limit her jumps (injury) and get one height in with decent points. 1.71 is the same height Hall and Brooks started at, could just be the height they wanted them all to start at

No matter WHY they thought it was a good idea to pass to 1.71, it obviously wasn't and cost her in a huge way. Passing from 1.56 all the way to 1.71 was a costly mistake. Her 2024 indoors she cleared 1.76 - but you have to get on the board. I'm not aware of any injury either.

I was today years old when I realized race walkers move at a 6:00 minute mile pace

Oldie, but a goodie. Cary Grant , Samantha Eggar, Jim Hutton...

Walk, don't run. The Olympic Walking starts at about 1:35.

I will never forget running a half marathon in Vegas years ago. I ran just under 1:35 which was around a 7:12/mile. Around mile 6 a race walker blew by me like I was standing still. I even ego challenged him a little bit and started to pick up my pace and could not even close the gap. Never seen anything like it.

Mondo 6.26. Another world record. Many more to follow.
