I respect your deep and broad knowledge of our T&F program, and value your comments on all aspects of its development and performance.taylorswift13 said:
It's just so sad, we have these facilities, we have this great history, we are in the best track state in the world for high school athletes and we can't succeed anymore…
I watched the meet on the SEC network, and the showing of the men's and women's teams was embarrassingly poor, to the point of not even being competitive.
I lurk on this board frequently enough to understand what you and other knowledgeable commenters observe about the decline of the program and coach Henry's struggles to succeed in the new world of professional college T&F.
Coach Henry has had a Hall of Fame run which will forever endear him to Aggie fans. Perhaps he is tired or too stubborn to change his ways and successfully adapt to the new paradigm. I give him credit for recognizing that the team is a big disappointment, but we have no good reason to expect rapid improvement. I sense he holds himself accountable. We'll see what happens.
To the Aggie mom with a son on the team, bless you and him for your spirit and loyalty. However, I seriously doubt that anything y'all read here is a surprise to either of you. Moreover, critiquing obvious shortcomings is not destructive when informed fans and potential recruits are already fully aware of them, and cheer leading for a failing team, instead of encouraging necessary changes to promote its success is not productive.
