Looked at the USC results and looks like the kicked out ass. Not sure how high the ceilings and low the floors are for this team. Surely there will be improvements, but also have my concerns with this year. Any thoughts or expectations for this team?

Aggies open the dual match play season today at the U San Diego Toreros.
Aggies won the double point after losing at 3 and winning at 2, it came down to a tiebreak at 1 - which we won!
We have split the first 2 singles matches that have fished with Schachter winning in straight sets at 1 and Hilderbrand losing in straight sets at 4.
This one is going to be a battle to the finish and we may need to win 3rd sets at 2 and 3 to eek out a victory.

I have a feeling, and have for a while, this team has a Sweet 16 ceiling. Obviously a long way to go, but I bet there will be more head scratchers of both wins and losses

Stanford is kicking tail in singles. We will need Rollins at 4 to get a break back in the 2nd set to keep them from closing us out.

I'm starting to get the feeling the Gary Blair effect is kicking in. The only difference is Denton is still recruiting decently. Fairly sure our facilities are making an impact on the men's team.
That schedule is just brutal! The men need to tone it down and women need to step it up!

Blair won a National title. These two are not the same.
Perhaps Quail can do the scheduling for both programs so they can both get it to your liking.
They are absolutely comparable. A final four, handful of elite 8, and many sweet 16 trips. You can't say they aren't. Look at the conference championships and how many times he ran the ship in league play. While Denton may of not had that natty, he is as close to apples to apples as it gets here.

Ha. Denton has been very successful. You can compare to women's soccer too if you want. Whatever floats the boat.
If the program isn't on a downward trajectory, I would love to know where everyone thinks they stand. I just have concerns/red flags with the last two years. I've been a A&M tennis fan for many many years now and don't get the same excitement that women's tennis brings

Don't mind me. I only started watching tennis last year because our basketball teams were so down, and the women were playing more often at the beginning of the season when I had time to watch. I'm trying to get into the men's team this year.
I would be willing to do that!!! For some reason I was not asked. I just harp on it a little too much as the men just play an incredible tough schedule and not so much on the women's side.bigboyaggie said:

I can see my message is a bit aggressive, not intended to be! Genuinely curious what others think. From my perspective, I relate to womens basketball(and now soccer). Recruiting is alright but not super exciting, which worries me a bit.

After looking at the team history, I will admit that Denton has done better than I expected. Over his tenure he has 6 second rounds, 5 sweet 16s, 2 elite 8s and 1 semis final. 3 SEC reg season championship (1 co-champs) and 2 SEC tourny championships.
One could argue he is in/near the same category as Blair depending on how much you weight the national championship.

Play vs #2 OSU at their place. Gonna be real tough. Today at 5.
Could get ugly. Nothing to lose though. This team is not competing for a national championship but good on Denton for not being afraid to challenge his team with a tough schedule.
Looks like Ohio St. won the doubles point 2-1 with Kenner Taylor and Pierce Rollins winning at 3 for us.
