That's probably the nail in the coffin for us catching the Gold medal count. We're currently down by 5. 2 in basketball, maybe a relay gold medal (really need 2), women's water polo maybe and then you gotta hope we can find one in another individual sport.

Just saw on the schedule that the women's marathon will be at 6 AM Japan time tomorrow, which should be 4 PM today here?
I d love to be first in Gold's but I would rather have the overall title. If you look at the way our group/team has performed this year overall and in spite of the fact that we have really under performed in a lot of areas, we are doing well. We should have done better but considering again, that we have some athletes that have well under performed to their potential, been somewhat misguided and maybe mis- and out- coached in a lot of events I'll take where we are. Just finish in front of the damn Chinese government. Sorry, team.

Sheesh when I watch these race walks events I feel like these athletes knees are about to break. The form looks so uncomfortable.
Baseball, basketball (x2), water polo, volleyball, wrestling, boxing, 4x400 relay (x2), golf. Plenty of opportunities left.
I've never understood why marathons, race walking, etc. are part of the summer games. I mean I get why, but no major city has their marathon in the middle of summer for a reason
I agree, but it falls under that athletics banner. Just have to accept it's a war of attrition more than a race
