I think if Laird runs the 100M instead of 200M, he beats out Williams and Gillespie for a spot on the relay pool. Maybe they could have run Bednarek or Lyles, but I'm sure they wanted to give them rest. Doesn't matter though if you can't pass the stick.

Starting with Sydney, they worked to identify events that they could medal in and have spent a quarter century building a team that could win the medal count. They aren't a third world country anymore, add in largest population and state resources; our days as the top performing nation are numbered.
