This is misleading. Prior to 2016 he was a decathlete. And in 2016 he still wasn't fully specialized on the 400 hurdles. He was running 100, 200, 400 and even a little long jumping. He was 20.DannyDuberstein said:

James looked really good, and honestly I wouldn't hate to see him win. Would be a great story with all he's battled.

So why didn't Bryce Deadmon run in the final?
The US relay coaches thought it would be better to run the other guys who placed higher in the Olympic trials smh! Deadmon while jogging the last 30 meters since he opened up a huge lead ran 44.5 in his prelim split, while the two top guys went 44.3 and 44.9 all while trying to catch someone and failing to do so! With Deadmon running from behind I believe he had the potential to split 43.5-43.9 and get us a gold!Aggie7158 said:
