I was at the Missouri match and also the Arkansas match and it was very obvious the doubles was at a much higher level against Arkansas so something must have happened that turned things around. Good coaching staffs can make simple changes and bad coaching staffs can not. Not always about teaching your team something new, it is about finding what needs to be improved on and as Mark always says find ways to get better. Maybe they just had a good practice the day before...maybe they changed some strategies....maybe they just played smarter...who knows. They got the doubles point so good for the team for whatever adjustments were made.

Probably won because the opponents were inferior ..

Listen to this BS!!!

Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia are supposed to come here this week, for what were always scheduled as home matches for us.

Mark is being told that due to weather forecast calling for rain, we have to play them ALL INDOORS in either Waco, Houston, or Austin, or we have to travel to THEIR PLACE to play! Either that Or we have to travel to Tuscaloosa to play them all right before SEC tournament

Our girls are being penalized for getting Covid, and apparently the A&M athletic dept isn't going to bat for us. What a joke.

The other teams said they couldn't come back here due to financial reasons, so they're trying to make us travel to all three places.

Completely unfair For our team!! SEC and Aggie AD need to do the right thing here, but not looking good
Our girls are being penalized because the athletic department has not given enough of a damn to build indoor courts.

And if they don't care enough to not be the only school in the conference to have indoors, then they certainly aren't going to go to bat for them on this.

I don't see any of you all donating for the indoor courts? Why would the athletic dept invest in the Tennis program at this moment or in the future? Just not worth it.

Why ? Because that's what first class athletic departments do.

They provide first class facilities for all sports and get top notch coaches for all sports.

Does tennis generate enough revenue to cover its expenses ? No. But neither do any other sports not named football or men's basketball.

I don't disagree with you on this, but the same is true everywhere. If you think no one gives a damn about Aggie tennis then how do you think it is at Miss St or Arkansas? Yet they and every other conference school have indoor courts.

And for the few of us that read this thread it would be a lot more enjoyable if every other post wasn't you bashing our coach or our girls! Either support and cheer them on or get outta here!

No one cares there either maybe they run their athletic budget better or have a donor ?

Better is a matter of perspective, I guess. If Aggie Athletics cares just as much about their tennis player as they do their football players that doesn't mean you have to build a Kyle Field level facility for them but it does mean that you need to give them just as good of a chance to win relative to their competition. When you're the #1 overall athletics earner but the #14 facility spender that's a pretty clear sign.

Now if you're looking at athletics like a business, then you're right - it doesn't make any sense to spend a penny more than necessary on tennis (or swimming or equestrian and so on) because those are all money losers and exist only to satisfy Title IX and NCAA participation requirements. Some of them like you said, have big donors. Tennis obviously doesn't have any big donors or anyone that cares enough to pull their donations since George Mitchell passed.

I'm not sure you're a former tennis camper that Bobby Kleinecke sent home for stealing panties or what your vendetta is exactly, but if your point is that Bjorn Bjork & co. don't give a rip about tennis, I don't think anyone disagrees with you.

3-3 after the singles vs. UT BTW. Down to the doubles just like the old school singles first days for those of you old enough to remember that.

Aggies beat #16 UT 4-3

It would be so weird if having a doubles-focused practice led by our coaches who were both all-conference doubles players actually helped us play better doubles.

Because everyone knows at this level you either know how to play or you don't, amirite?

Give the UT players credit. I lost count of how many times we had either match or set point but the UT player won it. I think Jayci Goldsmith at #2 singles finally won on the 9th match point. And Faa-Hviding at #4 and McQuaid at #6 were each at set point in Set 2 and the UT player won the point and ended up winning the set and match. At the set point Faa-Hviding had the UT player's shot hit the top of the net and fell over. Makarova at #1 had match point in the 2nd set tie-breaker and ended up having to go to a 3rd set which she won 6-1 I think it was.
The doubles point seemed to have a little extra intensity being at the end of the match and McQuaid made some spectacular shots at #3 doubles.
Right now we are supposed to play Mississippi here on Friday but stay tuned.

Kudos to the team for an excellent season thus far and seem to be surpassing what was expected of them at least according to the pre season SEC rankings. Hope they can keep it up!

12th man.com now says we host Mississippi on Saturday at 10 AM and then play Georgia in Tuscaloosa at 3 PM on Sunday. The Mississippi website still shows the match on Friday.
But then again, when you open up the story on 12thman.com about the win over UT today, the stats are for a men's match vs. UT. Looks like someone in Athletics Communications pushed the wrong button.

McBryde had her right thigh wrapped. She won her first set but lost the second so a little concerned about her going forward. Glad that Goldsmith avoided going to a second set tie-breaker. One of the Mississippi players at #1 doubles was hitting really high lobs.

4-1 against the #19 team is a big win!

Too bad they aren't doing campus sites for the first two rounds, because you'd think we'd for sure be a top 16 seed after these two wins. Would still be great for draw purposes and is some nice momentum going into the SEC tournament.

Don't like having to play a UGA team that hasn't lost since January the day before the tournament starts, especially since it looks like they are the 1 seed and we are the 3 regardless of the outcome of that match, but with the weird 14-team draw I guess we will at least get 2 days off and get fed straight into the quarters.

Great season so far and lots of reason to be optimistic about the future.

Selection show is May 3 so the NCAA has a few weeks to tell the fans what is going on. The 12thman.com story about the match today actually had the real box score and not the box score for a men's match like it had Wednesday for the UT match.

Lost 4-0. McBryde did not play singles but she did play #2 doubles. McQuaid moved up to the #5 line and Di Laura played #6.
