Everyone knows the deal with these British Open courses. If the course is soft and the weather is good, there will be low scores. They are at the mercy of the weather.
St Andrews is an easy course with the weather being its only defense. They got lucky it was bad enough to not play in. Now its soft and the wind settled.
And you gotta love how respectful, well behaved, and etiquette conscious the galleries are. They make Americans look like a bunch of rowdy 8 year olds who skipped their Riddelin for the last week.

Seems like every hole is a driver and short iron, even with soft conditions.

Anyone know what these guys in the early groups do after they're done? Do they typically go practice, go watch the afternoon groups, or just rest and recuperate?

Sneds was in Watsons group and elected to keep playing on 17 in the dark just so Watson could have his moment. Sneds made double and missed the cut by 1 shot
Snedeker birdied 18 and will still miss the cut by two. I don't think he was trying to do Tom any favors. None of these guys like to have to get up there first thing and finish a round if they can avoid it.

I think it is while on the same hole, but to move on to the next hole the whole group has to. Speith and Johnson stopped mid-hole while Matsuyama finished out.
I'n pretty sure Tiger would've played in the dark all night long to not have to stay another night and finish tomorrow just for a MC. Plus it couldn't have made it any worse for him.
I'm sure tiger is still thinking he can come out and birdie 5 of his last 6 and make the cut on the number
