On Friday, Dallas Baptist transfer outfielder Dylan Schlaegel announced his commitment to Texas A&M baseball as he will continue his collegiate career in Maroon & White.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2026, the right-handed hitter from Mansfield earned second-team All-Conference USA honors after slashing .279/.420/.607 in 49 games with 40 starts for the Patriots. Schlaegel also scored 39 runs on 39 hits, which included 10 doubles and 12 home runs with 41 RBI.

A centerfielder at DBU, he is listed at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.

Schlaegel began his collegiate career for Dan Heefner in 2024 but took a redshirt season that spring. In 73 games for the Patriots, he is a .272 hitter with a .955 OPS.

The Boston Red Sox selected him in the 17th round of the 2023 MLB Draft, but he opted not to sign and stay in the metroplex.

A draft-eligible prospect, Schlaegel played in the MLB Draft League this summer, which means the Aggies will be sweating out his commitment throughout the weekend.

Prepping at Mansfield Legacy High School, Schlaegel was a three-year letter winner and was a 6A first-team All-State selection as a senior in 2023. That year, Perfect Game rated him as the No. 29 outfielder in the state of Texas.

Schlaegel becomes A&M’s 13th addition during the current portal window and second outfielder.
