On Wednesday, the National College Baseball Writers Association recognized four Texas A&M standouts as 2026 All-Americans.
The Aggies were represented by first-teamers Clayton Freshcorn and Caden Sorrell. Aiden Sims earned second-team honors, while Gavin Grahovac was named a third-team selection.
These accolades come two days after Nico Partida received first-team Freshman All-America acclaim by the NCBWA.
Further, Freshcorn is a finalist for the NCBWA’s Stopper of the Year Award, which will be presented to the winner on Friday, June 12, in Omaha.
Offensively, the Aggies were led by Grahovac and Sorrell atop the lineup. As right-handed and left-handed sluggers, respectively, they became just the second duo to club 20 home runs in a single season in program history, joining the 2024 trio of Grahovac, Jace LaViolette and Braden Montgomery.
On the bump, Sims and Freshcorn were the Ags’ most reliable arms all spring, with the former providing much-needed length in the rotation, while the latter climbed A&M’s single-season saves leaderboard.
Fully healthy as a junior, Grahovac played his way up draft boards and should be a day-one selection in next month’s MLB Draft. The SEC’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year and first-team All-SEC pick slashed .339/.429/.722 with 22 home runs, 16 doubles and 74 RBI. His 76 runs scored tie John Byington (1989) for ninth on A&M’s single-season list, and his RBI total was good for 10th, just above Craig Kuzmic (1998) and Scott Livingston (1987).
Perhaps most impressive about the corner infielder this spring was his abilities at first base. Despite playing the entirety of his SEC Freshman of the Year campaign at third, Grahovac moved across the diamond, where he was a .994 fielder and committed just two errors on 354 total tries.
With his career in Maroon & White likely in the books, Grahovac’s name will be sprinkled throughout the program’s record books. In 130 games, he was a .313 hitter with 33 doubles, 47 career home runs, and 146 RBI, placing fourth and 12th in those final two categories...despite missing the final 50 games of the 2025 season.
Similarly, Sorrell thrived in his third season on campus and will be an early selection in the upcoming draft. Known as one of the best defenders in the nation, the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder earned All-SEC Defensive Team honors in addition to being an all-conference first-teamer. Finishing with 20 two-baggers and 23 round-trippers, Sorrell became A&M’s first 20-double, 20-homer player since Daylan Holt (1999). He also led the Aggies in average (.341) and OPS (1.177) in 56 games. His 76 RBI in 2026 equaled Livingstone’s 1987 total for eighth most in program history, while his 23 homers tied Grahovac’s freshman season for fifth.
Like Grahovac, the Flower Mound native will likely be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play in Aggieland. In 144 career games and 503 at-bats, Sorrell owned a .316 average. His 46 homers place him fifth, just behind Byington’s (and Grahovac’s) 47, and his 151 RBI rank 10th, just above Chuck Knoblauch’s 147.
In his second season after transferring from McLennan, Freshcorn was at his best all year. Validating his preseason second-team All-SEC nod, the 6-foot right-hander racked up a dozen saves en route to first-team all-conference at the conclusion of the regular season. Making 27 total appearances with one start, the Waller kid owned a 2.82 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 54.1 innings pitched. He punched out 56 batters, walked just six and held opponents to a .244 average against.
His 12 saves tied Kasey Kalich (2019) for fourth in a single season, as Jason Jester (2013) and Nolan Hoffman (2018) top the list with 14. However, nine of Freshcorn’s saves spanned multiple innings as he broke the traditional definition of a “closer,” sparking similar feelings to 2024 National Stopper of the Year Evan Aschenbeck.
Like Grahovac and Sorrell, Freshcorn was just a junior in 2026, but he’s likely to sign with whichever big-league organization drafts him next month.
The lone underclassman on this list, Sims enjoyed a breakout sophomore season this spring. A right-hander from Forney, the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder backed up the preseason buzz by establishing himself as one of the better arms in the SEC. Somehow, the 2026 Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist did not receive any all-conference honors, but Sims did build an 8-1 record across 13 starts. His 3.84 ERA was tops on the club to go along with a 1.07 WHIP. Sims struck out 73 batters against just 19 walks in 68.0 innings while limiting opponents to a .213 average.
Sims’ best performance of the season came against Vanderbilt on April 3, in which he pitched a complete-game shutout in a seven-inning run-rule. That evening, the right-hander fanned eight Commodores and allowed just three hits in a 12-0 victory, and SEC Pitcher of the Week honors followed.
Unfortunately, an elbow injury forced Sims to miss the final week of the regular season, the SEC Tournament and the College Station Regional, but reports indicate that he should be healthy enough to pitch when the Aggies begin fall practice in a few months. As Earley & Co. look toward the 2027 campaign, Sims figures to be a large piece of the puzzle on the mound.
As a club, Earley’s 2026 squad finished with a 41-16 overall record at 18-11 in conference to place third in the Southeastern Conference. As the No. 12 national seed, A&M went 2-2 in the College Station Regional to end the year.
