Notes from Jackie Sherrill interview
* Texas A&M has gotten an incredible amount of free press around the country this year. It is probably $40 Million worth of advertising.
* The decision to go to the SEC was a tough one, but it has been a re-birth of Texas A&M. People across the entire nation know about this year’s team.
* Johnny Manziel is very humble. He understands the bigger picture of college football. Manziel’s presence on and off the field has given a better insight on who he is as a person.
* A kid like Manziel does not fully understand how big of an impact he is making on a national scale. He does not see himself as “Johnny Football” but as a young football player having fun.
* Manziel will get the experience when he goes to New York for the Heisman ceremony. Hopefully he will remain the same person and will not allow the hype to change his character.
* Manziel should win the Heisman trophy. The only drawback is that the older generation of voters may not vote for a freshman.
* If Te’o did not play for Notre Dame, he would not have a chance to win. Playing at Notre Dame gives him a huge boost.
* Sometimes the Heisman race simply does not make sense nor is it the correct decision. But in today’s society of media exposure, it is not as hard to see motives of the voters.
* In regards to conference realignment, when the dominos start falling, it will happen again. The thought process revolves around how many conference teams can become bowl eligible.
* There are multiple teams that are saying they do not want to stay where they currently are. The question is where are they going to end up. The realignment situation is not over.
* Florida State and Clemson are the most probable to go to the SEC, but Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are still in the picture.
