Texas A&M holds on to top spot in D1Baseball's Week 2 poll

A second week of being No. 1.

On Monday morning, D1Baseball’s latest top 25 kept Michael Earley and the Fightin’ Texas Aggies at the top as the Maroon & White enter the first full week of 2025 ranked No. 1.

The ranking comes after A&M swept Elon at Blue Bell Park over the weekend.

Behind a solid five-inning start from Ryan Prager on Friday, an offensive explosion on Saturday afternoon and an impressive outing from Myles Patton on Sunday, the Ags showed some signs of living up to their top-ranked billing.

However, as Earley noted on Sunday afternoon, the ball club is far from a finished product. A&M’s defense was inconsistent, and a handful of relievers were ineffective on Opening Weekend.

But there is still plenty of time to work through that before SEC play begins at Olsen Field on March 14 against Alabama.

Speaking of the best college baseball league in the nation, nine of the D1Baseball top 25 are from the SEC: No. 1 Texas A&M, No. 3 Louisiana State, No. 4 Tennessee, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 8 Georgia, No. 10 Florida, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 16 Texas and No, 18 Mississippi State.

A&M returns to action on Tuesday (weather permitting) against McNeese before hosting Cal Poly this weekend.
