+1: Aggies move up to No. 14 in AP poll despite being idle in Week 7

Did y’all enjoy your bye week, Ags?

After rattling off five straight wins to improve to 5-1 and 3-0 in conference, Mike Elko and the Fightin’ Texas Aggies were idle in Week 7.

Still, the Maroon & White moved up to No. 14 in the latest Associated Press poll.

Additionally, Texas A&M checks in at No. 14 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Despite not playing this week, the Ags remain alone in first place in the Southeastern Conference by virtue of being the only 3-0 team in the league. However, Texas (2-0) and LSU (2-0) are hot on their heels, and showdowns with both are looming in the back half of A&M’s schedule.

The Longhorns earned a marquee victory over Oklahoma in Dallas, 34-3, while the Bayou Bengals knocked off formerly-No. 9 Ole Miss in overtime on a Louisiana Saturday night, 29-26.

Not to overlook a Week 8 matchup with Mississippi State in Starkville, the Aggies will host the now-No. 8 Tigers at Kyle Field on Oct. 26, and of course, the Lone Star Showdown returns to Aggieland on Nov. 30.

The Ags, Horns and Tigahs are among the eight SEC programs inside the AP’s Week 8 poll: No. 1 Texas, No. 5 Georgia, No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 Louisiana State, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 18 Ole Miss and No. 19 Missouri.

As mentioned above, the Maroon & White travel to the Magnolia State to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-5, 0-3) on Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. CT.

This is surprisingly fair, I think. Outside of BYU and Iowa State, I can't think of any team ranked higher than us we will beat for certain.
