Texas A&M's Jim Schlossnagle to receive Bold Award from Turn It Gold

A golden honor for a friend of Turn It Gold.

Later this month, Texas A&M head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle will receive Turn It Gold’s Bold Award for his commitment to childhood cancer research and athletic activism.

Schlossnagles’s contributions to the fight against childhood cancer will be honored at the Turn It Gold Gala on Jan. 27 in Houston.

“I’m very humbled to accept this honor, but more so, I’m hoping that this brings even more awareness to the fight against childhood cancer,” Schlossnagle said. “I hope we can get a great and large group of Aggies at the event on Jan. 27!”

The Turn It Gold Gala will be held at the Houston Galleria’s Royal Sonesta Hotel on Jan. 27, 2024. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. CT.

The public can purchase sponsorships and tickets at TIG.givesmart.com, and all Aggies and friends of Texas A&M baseball are invited to attend and join Schlossnalge in support of Turn It Gold.

Named after the official ribbon color of childhood cancer awareness, Turn It Gold is a nonprofit charity that fights for children to live longer lives by putting children first in the fight against childhood cancer by accelerating the discovery for a cure for the United States’ #1 childhood-disease killer.

Since his arrival in College Station, Schlossnagle has brought an annual "Turn It Gold Game” to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. Between the 2022 Mississippi State series and the 2023 Florida series, Schlossnagle’s Aggies have raised upwards of $30,000 for childhood cancer research through their endeavors.

Turn It Gold's connections to Aggieland extend beyond the diamond, as A&M soccer is also committed to the fight against pediatric cancer through similar activism at Ellis Field. In September, G Guerrieri & Co. celebrated 10 years of the annual Turn It Gold soccer game.

Schlossnagle and A&M baseball will again Turn It Gold in 2024, but a specific weekend has yet to be announced.
