The Aggies have added to their wide receiver room for next year as former Troy WR Jabre Barber has announced his intentions to continue his career at Texas A&M.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder comes to College Station after hearing overtures from Florida State, South Carolina and Kansas State.

As it stands, Mike Elko now has 11 commitments out of the portal.

In his career with the Trojans, Barber hauled in 132 catches for 1,674 yards and 10 touchdowns with a long reception of 60 yards. This past season was his most productive, as he nabbed 75 receptions for 999 yards and five scores.

The Dothan, Alabama, native joins Cyrus Allen (Louisiana Tech) and Javon Harvey (Old Dominion) as new wide receivers for next fall.

Seen him play and; while he's not tall, he runs great routes, has good hands and gets separation. If nothing else, maybe work as a slot receiver.

He was a slot receiver with Troy and had 10 catches for 107 yards against Duke in the Birmingham Bowl.
Elko was obviously impressed.

His coach: "He's lightning in a bottle."

Rated 2 stars out of high school, 4 years experience, now rated a 3 star .8900. Had his best season last year. Experienced depth. Kansas State, Michigan State and Mississippi State also had interest.

Welcome to Aggieland!

I still remember a story about Jarrett Dillard of Rice... at some point in a game he shouted, "I'm not 5 feet eleven, I'm eleven feet five!"

Just cause a guy's giving up 3 inches don't mean he ain't a baller. Once again, Elko gets a proven commodity rather than a guy with "potential".

For every Robert Ferguson, Ryan Swope, Mike Evans, Bethel Johnson, Josh Reynolds, and Christian Kirk, you need two of Chad Schroeder, Ryan Tannehill, Greg Porter, and Jason Carter. I've never seen a vertical leap, catch radius, or a 40 time pick up a single first down.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough
