Texas A&M adds former Louisiana Tech WR Cyrus Allen via transfer portal

Texas A&M continues to mine the transfer portal for talent, and today, the Aggies added some offensive firepower today as wide receiver Cyrus Allen announced his plans to head to Aggieland.

The 6-foot, 180-pound receiver quickly made a name for himself in his two seasons at Louisiana Tech recording 68 receptions for 1,278 yards and eight touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2023, he entered the season as a preseason all-Conference USA selection, and he recorded 46 receptions for 778 yards and four touchdowns on his way to All-Conference USA honors.

Allen was originally a three-star recruit in the 2021 class out of Landry-Walker in New Orleans, LA, and chose Louisiana Tech over offers from the likes of UTSA, Texas State, Oregon State, Louisiana Monroe and Arkansas State.

After entering the transfer portal, he also received offers from West Virginia, Mississippi State, Tulane, Oregon, Houston, Miami, South Carolina, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Baylor and Wisconsin.

Allen becomes A&M’s 4th addition from the transfer portal in the 2024 cycle.

Nice pick up, adding some depth at the WR position. Hopefully we can add some top notch WR's in the next recruiting cycle.

Quite the impressive set of offers while in the portal. Vaunted Tulane, Miss State, Baylor, and even U of H. Can't believe we were able to land this kid! We're going to be great next season with all these amazing portal transfers.

Can he catch and can he get open? Appears so. 800 yards this year was good production for him. You goofball. You can't expect to get the very best portal WRs when we hired an OC not known for a passing offense. You have to have results first for a transfer to risk his only free-transfer on you.

Hauled in 46 receptions for 778 yards and four touchdowns … Ranked fifth among all CUSA players with 70.7 receiving yards per game… Ranked sixth among in CUSA with 4.2 receptions per game and sixth in yards per receptions with 16.91 … Topped 100 yards receiving in three games this season

Yep ands with this O line. Time for 2 yards and a cloud of dust. The option and Sherman come to mind.
