On Monday’s edition of TexAgs Radio, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M Athletics as baseball fell to Alabama, softball heads to the Austin Regional in the NCAA Tournament, and women's tennis advances to the elite eight.

Baseball
Texas A&M faltered in Sunday's rubber match against Alabama, 11-0. Outscored 23-1 through the last two games, the Aggies struggled to find their way at the plate and on the mound as the Crimson Tide secured the series victory. Texas A&M sits at 12-15 in the SEC with one SEC weekend to go.

Softball
For the 21st consecutive year, Texas A&M softball will participate in the Big Dance as Trisha Ford & Co. have been selected as the No. 2 seed in the Austin Regional. The Aggies now face Texas State to open the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA Tournament begins on Friday, May 19, and A&M will face Texas State at McCombs Field at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Women’s Tennis
No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis is headed to the national quarterfinals as the Aggies took down No. 15 Tennessee on Friday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center, 4-1. With the victory, Mark Weaver & Co. are headed to their second consecutive elite eight.

Texas A&M’s adventure to the Sunshine State will begin on Wednesday, May 17, as they face No. 7 Stanford as one of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Track & Field
The women’s 4x400m team and Lamara Distin claimed conference titles to lead the Aggie women to a third-place finish as the Texas A&M men’s and women’s track & field teams completed the final day of the SEC Outdoor Championship meet at Bernie Moore Stadium on Saturday.

The Aggie women scored 86 points to result in a third-place finish, their highest at the conference meet since finishing second in 2019.

The men’s team racked up 73 points to place fifth, their highest SEC finish since placing fourth in 2019.

  • Lamara Distin won a gold medal in the high jump with her 6-foot-3 jump.
  • Bryce Foster finished sixth in the shot put with a toss of almost 64 feet. The toss is a season-best and Foster's second-best throw ever.
  • Eric Casarez had a 15,000-meter weekend, finishing in seventh place in the 10,000m (30:24.77) and fifth-place finish in the 5000m (14:12.44).

Men’s Golf
The No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies battle for a spot in the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships as they head to the Salem Regional contested Monday to Wednesday in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Aggies are making their 48th NCAA postseason appearance, including the 19th time in the last 20 seasons. Monday’s action began at 7:00 a.m. with the Aggies teeing off from the 1st hole paired with No. 2 North Carolina and No. 11 Georgia Tech.

Women’s Golf
The No. 6 Texas A&M women’s golf team advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second-consecutive year after finishing tied for third at the NCAA San Antonio Regional on Wednesday and will head to Scottsdale, Arizona and begin play on Friday.
